From downtown London, it's the exciting, totally football show live, running up Matchday 3. There's club class at the Emirates as Arsenal continued to fly thanks to Martin and Kiwad. They enjoy their complimentary toiletries elsewhere. Team with terrible windows, see off the glazers. Evident two, man United two. Chickens are coming home to roost at the cottage and this poultry returns two for the still goal of spurs. That January transfer window can't come soon enough. We round up all the highs and lows in tonight's totally football show. And here we are in the studio. Hey, you caught me unaware. It's Sunday night. We're ready to round up the latest set of Premier League fixtures. Who do we have in the studio? Why? Matt Davis Adams, lovely to see you. Hello James, it's been a while. It has been a while. It's been the off season. Off season, because you know, things. Daniel's story is here. Good evening. In London. In person. Nice one. And so, Czechs notes. Arsenal win. Yeah, Adrian Clark. Yeah, of course I'm here. I would have come otherwise. Of course you would. It's an old and tired joke, frankly, from from last season. Everybody's here because everybody was here for the game in London this afternoon as Arsenal took on Chelsea. The whiff of a challenge about Chelsea this season after the start they've made. Arsenal, the champions, of course, with an emphatic response. We'll be getting your thoughts, but broadly speaking, any hot takes you want to spit out straight away. It's difficult to find a hot take from the game, really, because Arsenal won, I think. And the game took a probably different pattern than it would have done. Had Morgan Rogers not scored so early on. But yeah, Arsenal looked like a team. We've been playing for their manager for six years and Chelsea looked like a team. We've got some potential, but plenty of work to do. Okay. There had been some talk about where the Arsenal were not as strong up front. Martin Elias left. Gabriel Jesus has left, but they look pretty strong today. Good, didn't they? Yeah, I think they played with the swagger of champions. I genuinely think that Arsenal will be more exciting this season. If that had happened last year, that particularly going behind, it might have put the spooks on the team and they might not have responded in the way that they did. And then once I also got the lead, I feel like at times last season they might have not panicked, but got anxious much, much earlier. And it really seemed much anxiety. I just saw a lot of confidence from Arsenal. And yeah, I was chuffed to bits with the performance. I actually thought it was a great game. And Chelsea deserved a lot of credit for making it a great game. Yeah, absolutely. What a response to that early game, Daniel from Arsenal. I read that there were nine shots on target, mostly for Arsenal. In the opening 25 minutes, in response to that Morgan Rogers goal, which was the first of them, that is the second most ever recorded in the opening 25 minutes of a Premier League game. It felt like that. It felt like a fire you to name me, the two teams involved in the most. Yeah, I was going to say like Westbrook, Manu, when it was five or something. You know what, you're not that far off. Let me just scroll down to the actual answer. It was a game from 2011, finished, I think, 3-0, 3-0. It was West Ham against Sunderland. So I was quite far off. Yeah, I remember that game. Was there 11 inside the first? There were 11. You were straight by minutes. Indeed. So this was a quieter affair, but, you know, still pretty good. What I really enjoyed about it after last season's big six fixtures were generally pretty cagey and tepid and won by the odd goal or the odd set piece goal. I like that Javier Lanzo has come in and rather than protect his weaknesses, he's gone. Our front three is really good. Let's just throw everything at the strengths and hope that's enough. Made for a brilliant first 25 minutes. It really did complete end to end. Chelsea play every minute, like there's five minutes to go and they need a goal, which is brilliant for the neutral. And actually, I was impressed that Arsenal won effectively on Chelsea's terms. They beat Chelsea at their own game, which becomes because they wanted a statement for the rest of the season, I think. There you go. Arsenal remain on top. Chelsea fourth now with 270 minutes of the season already played. Maybe it's time to take a look at where people are. In fact, we are. So by the way, hello to you if you're joining us on YouTube on our live Sunday night roundup. Lots of people write again. We put out a question on the YouTube to say, which team do you think which premier club is going to make the biggest movement between their current position after three games? And where they'll be at the end of the season, a lot of people saying, how, don't know, what would you're on to be? I mean, how is the obvious one, isn't it? Paul, top of my head. Spurs. In which direction? Well, the only way is that, isn't it? I mean, don't know about that. Yeah, we said that for two seasons anyway, but surely, surely. I mean, surely. They have to, I mean, they can have a disappointing season and finish a lot higher than where they are now, right? So that would probably be my shell. Right. Okay. Forrest, I would say. I think. Forrest. I think forrest. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Forrest. There's not a lot wrong with Forrest. They're a solid team. They're going to win a lot of games and keep a lot of clean sheets. I think they'll be just fine. Take advantage of this. It has to be Everton. Every year they start off struggling. Then end up safe without a sweat. What do you think, Daniel? My first thought was Aston Villa on the basis they haven't scored a goal yet. And we presume when some of those players come back that they will improve. I do worry about the chance creation. We'll talk about that in a bit maybe, but yeah, I think Villa will finish much higher than they are. Okay. We'll get on to Villa who drew goallessly with hull this weekend. But let's check on all the results from match day three of this premier league season. He said switching off his page with all the results on them. That was an unfortunate bit of time, isn't it? That's not the code for my laptop either. So off to top of my head on Friday night, you had Liverpool beating Ipswich 2-0. I'm just trying to get these in the same order that they are on the graphic. So then on the Saturday, well, the first game was the 2-2 between Newcastle and Bournemouth. Newcastle, second 2-2 of the season. 1-1, it was between Brent from the Sunday. A lot of draws this weekend. Bryna Leeds, that finished short square as well. Fulham, they got beaten three-two by Crystal Palace. They stay pointless as do Coventry, who themselves lost 1-0-2 Manchester City. It was goalless between Forrest and Spurs, although Tottenham picked up their first point of the season and no goals neither between hull and villa. Sunday, a lot more lively, what with the 2-2 at the hill they can swim between Everton and Man United. And the thrilling match of the Emirates, 2-1 for Arsenal against Chelsea. All right, then let's jump back in to Arsenal and their Champions performance against the Chelsea. Well, another early goal from Chelsea, which was a perfect start for them and probably for the neutral as well, Matt. I think so, yeah, obviously I wasn't particularly neutral in it, but it definitely felt that that brought Arsenal out and changed the way that they attacked the game more. It's this common theme of Chelsea scoring early goals in games. It's really interesting. It's happened in all three of them now, but almost like it did against Fulham, it kind of set them back a little bit because it provoked your response from the opponent, and Chelsea didn't really know how to deal with it. And it's always easy to look at players who aren't available and say what a difference they would have made. But a lot of this game had me thinking, I've always just kind of said I was in midfield. There'd be a lot more control here. As opposed to Reese Chains and Romeo Lavier, one of whom is desperately trying to stay fit and the other one is being repurposed as a central midfielder. So that felt big, but I mean, Arsenal were unlucky not to score before they did, and they absolutely battered Chelsea for half now before they got the equaliser. So, you know, it was coming from the moment that Roger scored. But what a goal from Roger was like, underrated technique to do that. So early in the game, obviously, a nice bit narrative there with him having almost joined Arsenal in the summer up, being close to joining Arsenal. But yeah, I mean, there's no doubt that Arsenal thoroughly merited their equaliser. Obviously, nearly had it with the one that was just allowed, cons are offside and Califurie put it in. I think Martha has to be really disappointed with the goal that he can see. Maybe it would have been different if he hadn't been kicked in the head a few minutes earlier, but even so. I would ask you Adrian about that as well. Can I have it with the equaliser? Yeah. But should Martiners have done better? Yeah, I think so. He's a bit slow getting down. Wait, it's because it's kind of did a lovely job of mirroring the replays from behind the goal of both the of Ryan conceding the opener to Morgan Rogers and Amy Martinez to can I have it? So in both cases, because they cut it back to the near post, the goalkeeper assumes they're going for the other one and already has shifted across and they were really hit. And yeah, no, we're not going to be overly critical of the goalkeeper. I thought it was just good play from Califurie. I thought he was great. I thought he was absolutely terrific in the game. Little nutmegs. There's one little feather touch nutmeg. I went through it. That was absolutely good. Are we talking about the faint for the go ahead? Well, I wasn't, but that was probably the best assist of the season, but he'll never get the assist for it because he just let the ball run to early. But I thought Califurie was absolute class in the game. I think for the goal, he was still fuming it himself for turning down the shot a couple of minutes before where Zollis got down the left, pulled it back, and he all he had to do was sweep it left for the first time. And he went for a fancy little flick to early guard. And I think he was raging it himself. So the next time he got the ball, he literally just thought, you know, I'm just going to run and shoot. And you know, we've seen it a thousand times where you go through the legs of a defender, it catches the keeper. So yeah, that was that was a big moment. And then yeah, if you allow me to continue to to the to the winner, that was a good goal with Zollis feeding it in. Have us just letting it go. And under guard running off that Chelsea midfield that Matt's referenced in, that for me is the difference. That's why Chelsea are playing basketball football and really have a midfield at the moment. I don't have a proper midfield. So they sort of just miss it out, but get the ball up to the front guys as early as they can, wreak havoc, and we'll take our medicine going the other way. And he runs off Reese James. And that that for me is the big moment at the game. And it was a good finish. And this is the big change with a guard. Last season, wouldn't have made that run. It would have held back. But he's determined, I think, to up the old goal count this year. Well, he's already doubled his goal count from last season with two goals so far, this campaign. What else are you loving about Arsenal this season, Daniel? David Rair with a fine save, but that was there last time around. Concert. Another of the new signings. There was a sort of break out moment for Concert when he tackled Morgan Rodgers second half and got all about three quarters of a goal celebration, basically, from the Emirates. I mean, I have to say, I think Habits has been the best player in the Premier League so far in the first three games of the season. He's he's almost playing that. I don't know. It was a fairly game. He wasn't very yet. He was offside about 10 times. Thomas Muller, roundo, to kind of wherever you are, I will be there. Roll. And I have to say that the dummy in the first half that didn't work to a guard, I don't think Habits, when he hasn't got confidence, I don't think he didn't dummies the second one. I think he thinks I need to, I can't risk getting grown that again. But it was a perfect dummy. They weren't expecting it. Played a guard in. I thought he was phenomenal today. Just like dropping into space and you see the difference. I don't want it to then transform into criticism of Jocarez. But you see the difference when Jocarez comes on, and he's running the channels and the touches are a bit heavy. It's night and day in terms of how Arsenal play. And you talk about the Erdogan's runs and Solis's directness. It just works so much better with Habits there, doesn't it? Yeah. Arsenal are going to be taking on Napoli away at the Maradona on Wednesday in the Champions League after that. Or on the road again, at Sunderland, that's next Saturday in the Premier League. Chelsea, I mean, while we're hosting Leeds and the Carabell Cup, man. It came that on Wednesday night. And then they face another of the teams above them in the Premier League hull. Yes. Yeah, that's right. Third before. But the Leeds game is huge for Chelsea because they're only in three competitions this season. And if they lose to Arsenal on the Sunday and then get knocked out and Chelsea leads a huge rivalry, then they get knocked out of the Carabell Cup in the second round in the competition. Then all of a sudden, it looks a bit like, well, we've really got to be hold on Saturday, otherwise it all gets a bit aggy around SW6. Good Lord. What does Shambi Lonsu take from today's performance? What's the status of Kaiseido, for example, in terms of his availability for? Well, one thing I've learned about Shambi Lonsu is that he gives absolutely nothing away with regards to injuries of players. So I have no idea on that one. I leave our coals on the bench as well. Today, whether that was because of formal fitness, we'll never know. But I think if he's looking for positives, they defended better than they did against Brighton last week. That's for sure. And had their final ball or final action been better on a number of occasions and that's something that you can impact, then they might well have got something out of the game. I've done all the games that Chelsea played at Arsenal in recent years and they've been battered in all of them. There'd been no any of them. They've been a country mile between them in terms of the quality. And that wasn't the case today. So that's a positive for him to take. If he's that good friends with Michela Attach, we should probably ring him beforehand and say what you're wearing, mate, because he had exactly the same. But yeah, other than that, there's positives to take, but you want a good result against Lee's now. I thought, I thought, Chelsea, we're good. They've carried a real threat. This is one of those games. If anyone hasn't seen the game and they're looking at the stats, they'd think, oh, he asked the one this easy. It was, it was a walk over. The stats were, the XG was 2.11 for Arsenal. 0.35 for Chelsea. 0.35 XG is miserable. But it didn't feel like that, didn't it? It felt, yeah, it felt like they created really, they had some great efforts on goal. So, yeah, sometimes you can just dismiss, dismiss that. That was, that was a decent Chelsea performance. That is Jal Pedro Chance, you're referring there, no? I did not have it. Oh, it's Nitto. Sorry. I keep calling the wrong Pedro's on-conference. You're very kind. Yeah. Anyway, there you go. Well, for now, Arsenal have kept their neighbours at distance and maintained. Their share of the lead in the Premier League, although Man City are ahead on goal school. We'll get on to what City got up to this weekend, but they've got the Derby next weekend, Man City. Man United, how convincing throw, unconvincing, were they earlier on this afternoon, when they went to the Hill Dickinson against a, an Everton team coming off a challenging week of field? Yes. And came away with a 2-2 draw. Twice they were ahead, United, but they only take a point for their efforts. Yeah, they're kind of weird mix of slightly more passive than I thought in possession, and then, but really reacting when they concede. So against it, which they conceded, obviously, and then suddenly brought this fire for about 20 minutes and then went passive again. Here, they scored the beginning of the second half, good goal, and then just went passive again. And it just allows teams into games that wasn't really happening last season. There was an opportunity, as you reference, to really turn the screw at the Hill Dickinson, because the fans are, you know, on the, well David Moise sounds like he's on the point of mutiny, nevermind supporters. And if they had have turned that screw, I think they'd have won the game with comfort. But they just look a bit passive. I don't think Carrick's changes worked again. I don't think he made the right call. He brought Doggo on at left wing. It just doesn't work for me. He brought off Luke Shaw for Mazwai at the end, and then they looked a bit disorganised on the edge of the box because they changed defenders. Yeah, the table doesn't look bad, but United have conceded a lot of shots. I think there's only three teams that have conceded more shots on target than them. And they've played two promoted clubs and a supposed crisis club. So yeah, ever sitting next weekend. Everton outshot them today. Everton, the challenging part of the most challenging part of their week, apart from the owners apparently looking to move on. There was a transfer window in the end of it and the way that they missed out on supposedly all the targets. Been left with about 18 senior players, no right back, only one forward. And yet, it was the signings that saved them. I do think this sounds slightly conspiracy theorist, but I do think there was an element of Moise's, oh god, everything's wrong, that just was a sort of siege mentality thing. Because you look at the bench and actually, other than missing a striker, it's got the championship's best player and last season in Haydenhack. The striker's quite a big thing. Yeah, it's got Grelish on there. There was, as you say, there was Maitlin Nas, who came on to score a fantastic goal. There was Tyler Dibblik. There's enough on that bench. It's just not a striker. And they will suffer the season for only having Tierney Barry, and they will suffer the season more, I think, for only having Michelinco as their only left back. Because he's he's a serviceable at best, but not great. But outside of that, they can be quite fun, and they scored really, really good goals today. Brilliant goals today. You've seen the goals, I think, man. I have, yeah. Tari George's was nice, but Maitlin Nas was a propagate, yeah, you see, moment, wasn't it? And I love that. The obvious thing is hitting into the opposite corner, isn't it? But he just swept it into that sort of near, I love it when a goalkeeper goes down on one and reaches an arm out, as if to kind of just sort of acknowledge the beauty of it as it whittles person. So Ian Wright was suggesting on the match coverage that his intention had actually been the other corner, but he just missed a chance. I'm right. He has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know, but I disagree with him vehemently. Yeah. Well, possibly problems ahead then for Everton with the issues with the striker, but for today, they had enough to counter man United with a brilliant set of comebacks there. Absolutely fantastic. They go to Spurs next Saturday. Always a quick shout for James Tarkowski as well, who had another statue-earning book of a performance at the back. This is what I talk about the season in time. There was a lot of that. You know, Branthway gave it the big kind of gladiator celebration when he blocked across. Pickford does that as a matter of course when he's taking goal kick, so there was a lot of that from him in the centre of midfield. They were celebrating tackles. James Garner celebrated. I do think that perhaps Moise has gone into the dressing room and said, look, I've said all this to the media, but we're still good enough here. We can still bruise noses. They can still finish top 12 with that squad, I think. Yeah. It's a crisis. It's definitely not a crisis. Yeah. There were big holes there at fullback. They should have strengthened striker as well, but he's got enough to work with to have an okay season, but I suppose the Everton fans have fed up with just, yeah, I need to get that frustration on you. Yeah. Well, let's see. Let's see, as mentioned, they got spurs next Saturday. Everton are actually the last team that Tottenham Hotspur have managed to score a Premier League goal against. So, there you go. Anyway, as mentioned, next four man united in the league, they've got Champions League midweek against competition debutants and Mr. Loverman call back Sabah from Azerbaijan. That's at old Trafford on Thursday, but then it's Man City and yes, I'm segwaying because next up, we're getting on to Enzo Mereska's side. Oh, Jamie Vardy 10 years ago was a reigning Premier League champion, Adrian. This weekend, he signed for Burnley. The Clarets who you recall were relegated from the Premier League last season. I currently winless and bottom of the championship and have turned to Vardy who turned, well, turned 40 actually in January to save them. Vardy's recent record includes taking Kremlin AZ down last season in Sydney and ending what was left of Mike Dean's credibility on a recent podcast. In Vardy's defense, Mike Dean did most of that himself. Yeah, he was voluntary. Yeah, but signing for Burnley. Good signing. Yeah, like why not? I mean, they just sold Zian Fleming to Ipswich and that was obviously a little bit below. So they've dipped into the free transfer market. I mean, I think Vardy's stick could still do a bit. I see. Yeah, I see. Less than meanwhile, 10 years ago were Premier League champions. This weekend, they were losing four nil at home to Oxford in league one and they got Russell Martin in charge, being later possibly. I mean, I don't know. The stats say they had 63 possession and played over 500 passes, but lost four nil. They've had one win in five so far. Anyway, I heard an interview with him after the game in which he said he was asked about having honest conversations after losing. He said, well, I've been misquoted there. I didn't really mean honest conversations and then proceed to say we will be having some honest conversations. This week after losing four nil the question is whether Leicester could afford financially to do anything about it because he gave him a three-year contract. So get on with it. Yeah, he's not that bad a manager. He's having a hard time, but I think Leicester have the players and a coach that can get them towards the top of league while I do. Don't do it. Don't push that sack button. Okay. We did an extra on Leicester's Premier League winning season, totally extra. If you enjoy those retro-flavored podcasts, you might like to know that we had a new and out last Saturday talking about Andy Cole with Daniela Monkstar lineup. That's been very kind to me. Andy Mittens was on the show and was very, very good at Andy Cole, wasn't he? He was. He was 187 goals. Andy Cole scored in the Premier League. Only one of them was a penalty. He scored 41 goals in one season, but did the street forget that's the kind of. I tried to Andy Cole as a kid. Did you ask the one as a teenager? No, so let's talk about that now. No, but he should have been on the show and said he was very good, trust me. Yeah, ask Mr. Trick. As I say, many thanks if you're following us on YouTube live. Hello there, Nick Hamlin says it was Bristol City who handed out Bernley's latest defeat. You hear a cow with a fantastic injury at the time winner. There you go. Lots of people talking about United by the way. United played decent at the first off. Lack of days go on the board during the match, allowed Everton to get back in, says take a fanatic him again. Nick Hamlin again says, is there a certain irony that Moise is probably objectively a better manager than Karik? Karik was. In a word, yes or no? Moise better than Karik. Yeah. Yeah, he's 20 years more experienced, definitively, improbably. Oh, okay. Yeah. All right, then. Man City, just a 1-0. Ooh, and some shaky moments, early on, particularly that Don Aruma moment of disattention. But it was a 1-0 win for Enzo Mariska's side, which makes it three wins out of three for him at the start of his 10-year as City Boss. Ooh, there were starts for Enzo Fernandez and Inamin and Jai. There was Elliot Anderson doing it. Elliot Anderson things. Painful, I know. But the most passes by an English player in a Premier League game ever. Is that right? One for one for three. He had more successful passes than Coventry, which is obviously a funny stare. But yeah, like it lends a little bit of weight to the fact that he could be then new sort of Roddry style conductor. I mean, he's not Roddry. He won't be Roddry. No, but he's a good player. That talk of flopped from the Community Shield for quite a long time again. Now that doesn't he's already looked to a settle-in and he's doing. He's a good player. Yeah. But Cobb had some chances, didn't he? He did, didn't he? Aaron E with that one-on-one and the one at the end as well. We're Don Aruma made a good save from Sim. So I think it's one of those with Coventry. Look at the league table and I feel pretty miserable. Yes. But they shouldn't because they'd actually equate themselves pretty well in this. They shouldn't feel miserable. A lot of people are very worried for coming. They shouldn't beat themselves up because I think they showed signs of real promise in this game. They got Brighton at home and Forrest away as their next two games. There's points there for them and you know, there is precedent for newly promoted team, goes to Etihad, has glorious defeat, changes their season round. If you look back to to Leeds last season, obviously not quite the same thing. It was interesting. You mentioned in Jai and Inza Fernandez. Inza Fernandez, both started. Having it to you. Yeah. Yeah. Well, having watched the highlights of the camera. This is quite Enza Moreska. It's effective, but it's pretty boring. Then I saw Erling Harland say about Inza. The way he dribbles past players just gliding through, it was amazing to see. Enza Moreska said about Inza. He needs to understand how to move. Most of the time he's moving the wrong way, wrong position. He needs to learn of sure he's going to learn. Man City, a way to Porto and the Champions League on Tuesday. We're going to do a big round up of, wow, a round up of the upcoming Premier League, sorry, upcoming Champions League fixtures in our European show, which will be with you on Tuesday, just in time. Talking about the Champions League and all the big games that have been happening here this this weekend. Huge ones. Bayern getting held. PSG getting beat. They haven't won a single game so far. This season and also the extraordinary intern happily match on Saturday. Anyway, tuning for that or indeed downloading it as is kind of more appropriate. Anyway, City as I say, Porto and the Champions League on Tuesday, then I'll traffic next Saturday for the Manchester Derby. What's going to happen there, Daniel? I cannot wait for that game. It could be because until now, Carrick has basically followed the SoulShare path in which he's been brilliant at getting them up for not just kind of emotionally, but tactically as well, up for those biggest games and playing as an underdog. If he does that again, it'll be really interesting to see Amoreska respond and how he deals with that. We for now doesn't get books. That's what's going to happen there again. All right. Oh, not even for us, Neil Tartner, Neil. I'm guessing, Dan and Matt, you both saw this. Yeah. Spurs or forrest, what do you want to talk about? Forrest or Spurs? I mean, Spurs is the biggest story is now, but then the refereeing thing, which is, I mean, slightly tedious, but very annoying if you support Forrest, I think. Okay. So, this was the Nicola Williams goal, which was called back, because possibly, I don't know if there was an angle that showed this clearly, possibly he might have handled it, as opposed to bravely putting his head in. Yeah, it's just guesswork, wasn't it, from the VR, and the problem with it is that, as Oliver Glasner said after the game, the idea this season was that VR was going to have a far lighter touch, and this was like first season VR getting involved. And, you know, one of the things that's made the start to the Premier League season more enjoyable for me than last season was the fact that there have been far less delays. These rules to restart, throw-ins and goal kicks have really helped speaking this up a bit. It's absolutely good. Yeah. And the light and touch of VR has meant that we're not hanging around for ages to reach a decision, which is based on a guess rather than fact. So, yeah, obviously, I can't really look at it neutrally, because I should have stood up. I'm neutral, it should have stood up. Like, I just think it... Well, you haven't asked anything yet. Well, no, yeah, and I did say it did tip up for us. Now, I think it should have stood, I mean, Tanali gets out of jail, because Tanali doesn't track Gibbs White at the start, so that's really bad midfield play. Then when the ball deflects, he's got the, he completely miskicks it, and then he kicks Nico Williams in the face, and effectively gives away what I think could have been a penalty on the goal line. So, that was before the goal, and Nico Williams, no, was that... Well, in the moment, yeah, at the moment where Nico Williams allegedly handles it, he kicks him in the face. Oh, did he? Because before that Nico Williams had been stretched out in the box of that a minute before this, where they think a blow to the air, so it was especially three bad pieces of play in a couple of seconds from Tanali, and he somehow got away with it. So, you know, he's very lucky. It was, it was a very nil-nil game vibe, twice, we should say. I mean, we talked about their, their transfer activity, Mahmouj missed chances. They didn't have a shot on target. They should have had four or five shots on target. They had enough chances for it. On that, no shots on target in a Premier League game for the first time since April, 2022, it's the first time they've gone through the first three matches of the season without scoring a goal. Since 1974, this is a kind of epically bad beginning to this campaign. But like with Leicester and Russell Martin, they're stuck with a Roberto and deserving, aren't they? Because they've given him so much money to spend and they're paying him so much money to be their manager that got to make it work. It'll click eventually. There's too many good players there. He is a good manager. Yeah, they just need to get to know each other, James. Yeah, yeah. How long did you give it? How long do you think it'll take? Oh, I think, I think by October time, there'll be up the league, there'll be in the top heart. Yeah, I don't see this as being another calamity season for spurs. There are too many good players there. Okay. Yeah. Excellent. Including Michaela Mudrick, who actually came on in the 74th minute, making his first competitive appearance since he scored in Chelsea's tuna whenever Heidenheim in the conference league in 2024. Also, Savio started throwing that in. So yeah, lots of players whom I'm on Moush, a disappointed game, but better to come, one hopes. Only 10 touches in the box from Forest. That was bad. I mean, I also had about 50 today inside Chelsea's box, 10 at home, so anybody, I think, is disappointed at the point. In the Premier League, they're only beaten Bernie at home in 2026, which is an amazing game. Yeah, that was the whole M.O. of staying in the Premier League. That's not true, right? It takes images to get settled and get his team. That's what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure. Maybe, and on a year or a while, it's getting a little bit settled. With Liverpool, they got their first win of the campaign, a two-nil away to Ipswich. That was on Friday. Oh, what was interesting about that was Gakpen Isaac, combining for both goals. What a good thing that they hadn't just shipped Cody Gakpen to Manchester City or other places. It's been interesting. Week four, Liverpool's transfers and people responsible for Liverpool's transfers, because on Saturday, Richard Hughes suddenly resigned as the man in charge of all that kind of thing. Yeah, I think that was expected, and we do expect him to go to Al Helal. I think Liverpool knew that was coming. It was more a question of when, and obviously the end of a transfer window in which lots of supporters think maybe we should have signed an extra midfielder or defender. Is it good as time is any for that to happen, I suppose? Or before the transfer? Yeah, I mean, that would have been nice for everybody, but yeah. It didn't feel like he gave a hundred percent, so that's that last transfer window. I mean, you look at the Liverpool bench, and they were loads of holes. Where's the backup to various players? It's not a great squad, but the Gakpen pass, the two passes were fab, and actually, if you want to give your Eriola credit, what's the game against Forest? Frimpong was dreadful, and he was strong, and he said, you're out, and he brought in a Raoho, who really is more of a centre-back. Any coming in did a really good job, so I think that decision solidified Liverpool big time. That allowing the right winger to stay high up, I mean, it's obviously what Arsenal have done with Ben White as well. That has solidity at right back. It doesn't have to be an overlapping right back every time, does it? Especially if they cannot defend like Frimpong guy, so nothing. Eriola hasn't been defeated in the Premier League since the 3rd of January, which is pretty good. Yeah. Was it true? Yeah. Liverpool host Athletico Madrid in the show, it was a big game this midweek. Yeah, I'm going to Anfield for that. I can't wait. Yeah, it does feel like the biggest one of the round, he says, bias, because he's going, but right, no, but that was the game at Anfield, you know, back in 2020. That was the Covid, it should be spread over the spread game. Yeah, it was. But they've had them since, it was actually one fixture last season I completely forgot about this. Do you know what the score was? I was there, so no, I was going to say 2-0 Liverpool. 3-2 Liverpool. I was genuinely there, I mean, before I forget, Bradley Barclay obviously came on, instantly, became the fastest player in the Premier League this season, just under 36 kilometres. Yeah, I did. It was him sprinting off the bend to the right wing that did that. I mean, yeah, so he's just a rapido, isn't he? Yeah. It's that enough, Adrian. Well, we'll find out. It was enough to keep him in and around the PSG side for a long time, and they are the two time European champions, European champions, so he's not a rap player. All right. Well, as I mentioned, we are going to be proving all the key Champions League fixtures in our European edition, which is out on Tuesday. One of the little things to mention for now, which is that if you're an NFL fan, got any NFL fans? Yes, there we go. The athletic is something really exciting starting this week, I read, Daniel. It's called The Athletic Live. It's powered by Google Gemini. It's a brand new YouTube Watch Along. There you go. On NFL game days, and it features the biggest and best beat reporters, the athletic has to offer. You, or indeed anyone, can become part of the show in the interactive chat on YouTube, and it all starts from September the 8th. It's very much like our show, I think, biggest and best. You can take part. Best of the best beat reporters. Yeah, you didn't say that but yeah, yeah. There you go. Dean Brown, speaking of which is Dean Brown. It's kind of such tragic for the Premier League man city, isn't going to have a drop off after losing Pep. I don't know. I think it's early days for that. It's very early days. It's very early days. The last thing a football club like Manchester City want would be prior before or before, wouldn't it? Anyway, what else before we get onto the rest of the Premier League this weekend? Well, WSL got underway, Matt. London City Lionesses began their campaign with a victory against Man United. It was nice. It was nice. Yeah, they kicked off the season on Friday night, 2-1, they won. It's out of Bromley. Yeah, that's their stadium. Yes, Hayes Lane. They didn't field an English player, which is very rare in the WSL, but they've obviously got lots of stardusts with Alexia Pateus. Etel, but I would suggest that might be just that result, might be just as much about Manchester United being chronically underfunded, and then it would be about the city winning. I was doing Chelsea Austin Villa yesterday, which was very Chelsea of last season, took the lead. I'd loads of chances. Didn't get a certain goal, considered a silly equaliser. Sorry, maybe a bit pressure on Sonny Bon Pastor. She doesn't pick up fairly soon. Shout out to Daniel Van der Donk for her goal for London City Lionesses, which is one of those kind of cross-comes across and you flick it with me outside. Yes, it was a lovely guy. But when they hit the post and go in, they look beautiful. Right. Super. Very nice. Very nice. Back to the Premier League, where Saturday's stand-out matches came on time-side, and the banks of the Tim's courtesy of Fulham and Crystal Palace and that Newcastle Bournemouth clash. Fulham against Crystal Palace was kind of built-up largely playoffs on Thursday, as the whoever loses is in a world of trouble game. So is Alvaro Arbalo in said world of trouble? Yes, I think so. He can't really... The players got to know his players and... Maybe, but he just looks like he's players anyway, though. Yeah, most of them are from his age. We should know. He looks like he can't organise a defence. I've got it in my notes here. Alvaro looks tense. Yes. Like he's trying to look really cool, right? He does look cool. He's a handsome swive guy, right? He's got a tremendous beard. But he just looks on age. And to be on age this early, he's not a good sign. I can understand him being on age. By the way, from when he looks at James. Oh, I see. You've got a... The part of him manages... You know, most of the players pick out these smell fields. Oh, in my notes, it says PSR is very avancular, saying that. In my notes, it says Alvaro Arbalo looks like Stewie from Succession. Niche Rapids. Now, yeah, yeah. Same jacket, yeah. Shout out to Gonzalo Garcia, who... I don't... It normally wouldn't call it a mistake to fail to clear a shot off the line. But when you managed to slay... I had it. And not mega yourself. And I saw his partner who kind of had been on Instagram and kind of told the story of them coming over to England and doing the whole journey. It was a really nice piece of work. And then she was off to at the game this weekend. She just started to sort of do a post saying, yeah, not a great start to be honest. That piano saw the line. It's pretty annoyed about it. It was... It slaps stick defending all the way through. It also looks really easy. There just looks... I mean, this is very basic tactics chap. There just looks to be massive spaces between all of the defenders and the midfielders. So, I saw it against Chelsea on the opening Monday. It's really easy to create chances with them. Chelsea did after 45 seconds. Yeah. On the subject of weather Fulhammer in trouble in Arbaloa, only in 1951 and 2020 had Fulhammer lost each of their first three games in a top flight campaign. And they were relegated on both those previous occasions. Before the international break, the next two Premier League fixtures are against Liverpool and Man United. So, it's not an easy runner of games. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, who get their first win under Pierre Sarge, a man in charge, Curty of the left-backs. Yeah. Tire at Mitchell with a brace and a bench. Yeah, the second one was a bit fluke. You obviously came off it. The one that we would just reference there with the thing. But no, I mean, yeah, it's amazing to see three, two left-backs score three goals in the same game. I think that Fulham, when we looked at Arbaloa's Fulham early on in the season, all of the talk is about how high the four-backs go. And you know, and Robinson loves to push you on, doesn't he? And I just think that that was part of it, you know, in terms of holes down the side of the centre-back. So, tactically, he's got a few things to sort out, hasn't he? But he's got a good youngster in his own team in Josh King, hasn't he? He's had a good start to the season. But for Palace, they needed this. They needed this big time. And I think it's going to be a challenge in season for them, but yeah, they'll, well, they'll be feeling fantastic now, aren't they? But right fixture at the right time, I think, for Palace. It was nice to have that three, two on the Saturdays where the line thinks up a bit. Newcastle Bournemouth was fun as well. Another busy afternoon on time-side. What would you take from this, Daniel? A Harley-Barns being the closest thing we've got to I and Robyn, favorite type of goal. Yeah, I was up to you. Because it's a great piece of skill, but it is a sort of thing that I think, if I tried that a hundred times, I might be able to do that once, and I never ever think that with any other goal. And it's just sort of, you see that space, you're running open. Absolutely. There must be a reason that fallbacks are not able to just show him down that side, but let him do that. Because it's the only way he scores goals, and he does it time and time and time again. That's the reason, Adrian. Well, you do show them down, you show them down the line, but sometimes if a player is too quick and too well-balanced, they just fake to go down the line and shift it inside. It's very difficult. If you set up differently and showed them inside, Harvey Barnes would probably go, okay, I'll just stroll in there. So it's not as easy to stop as you'd imagine, but it's all about Harvey Barnes's balance and unsettling the defender, and he's very, very good at it. He's a proper he's a proper winger. And I actually would go as far as say Harvey Barnes is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. No one talks about Harvey Barnes. No one thinks Harvey Barnes is an amazing Premier League player, but he comes up with a lot of good moments. And I would, if I was a fallback, I would not want to mark him. He's outstanding in his field. He's barnstorming. I was thinking I'm going to hang that to you. There you go. Oh, Bournemouth, the first team in Premier League history, just called the opening goal in their first three games of the season, and not win any of them. They would tune a lap after half an hour in this. So on one hand, it was a good comeback from Newcastle. On the other hand, though, they were out shot by the cherries 13-3 on shot at half time. Yeah, they should have been put, they should have been three at the half time and then it's done. Yeah, they've faced 61 shots in three matches so far, the season Newcastle. Is this a... They scored with the last four shots on target as well. Right. So the numbers are suggesting that there's going to be tough times ahead? I think, as we've said, because of having nine New Premier League managers, I think there's going to be an acclimatisation period, and you'd rather have five points on the board through that inclimatisation than the Noor or One, which is probably on the bounce. They were really good at Liverpool, and they're fortunate enough to win that game. So I think you have two toss-ups. Yes, they probably are a little bit lucky on Saturday, but there does seem to be... I suspect that kind of direct play, languid behind my well-book, better away from home as well, which is what we saw at Tottenham. So there'll be a... I think they're going to have to learn to deal with having them all at home. Yes. Crazy start on match the day, not really a start more of a fact, but that this was the first time they'd met in the Premier League without Eddie Howe in one of the dog games. When they mention who the... Sorry, that's a different game, I'm thinking of, I think, perhaps. Oh no, it was... Meeting's pretty hard. Harry Rednap. They've said who the managers were last time they faced each other, Newcastle and Bournemouth, and I can't... It wasn't Eddie Howe, right? When it was... Yeah, when it wasn't those two. So Harry Rednap was in charge of Bournemouth. Harry Rednap was in charge of Bournemouth. No, you must've gone on saying who the Newcastle were. Perhaps you know their home. Do let us know as soon as you can. We'll move on to Hall-Aston Villa in the meantime. Hall still undefeated, still yet to concede a goal. They are only the third-promoted sides of the top flight to keep clean sheets in the first three games of a Premier League season, ever chart athletic in 98.99, and Huddersfield Town, forgotten that, in 2017, 2018, seven points from the first three games. How excited should they be about this? Well, I've got a little table here, and they have been... One, two, three, four, five, they are the sixth side to have seven points after... At least seven points after the first three games have the other ones fared. So early doors, like the early days of the Premier League, actually pretty well. Blackburn ended up fourth that season. They had seven points. Not even forrests, 94.95 ended up third. Since then, it's been pain. Well, Portsmouth, 23.04 ended up 13th, but Huddersfield and Bolton both ended up down in 16th. To be fair, though, I say pain, that's fine for Hall-Aston. And Hall started like this back in the day, didn't they? The Giovanni team and all those guys. When we do this after the rehearsal, then, I'm going to go... It's good news. The table says it's good news. Well, you mentioned those two teams. Charlton went down, Huddersfield stayed up with the teams who kept clean sheets in their first three games. I mean, I watched this game, and they could easily have lost it, because McKinnon and Wendy are both spurned. Excellent chances. But then, Oli McBernie, who you mentioned, Jamie Vardy earlier, he is the 2026 Premier League Jamie Vardy as Oli McBernie. He's got exactly the same energy, but he should have scored. Yeah, as a club struck nine. They got away with it a bit, but yeah, they're going to have to have fun a bit more attacking punch, aren't they? But they must feel whole, like they're never going to concede again. Because the playoffs last year, clean sheets against Milwell, both games to get through, clean sheet in the final against Midasbrough, and then they've got three clean sheets at the start of this season. So I go, you care of it, he's the nullifier. Right. He, this guy, knows how to stop teams. He's brilliant at it. And he wasn't always like this, wasn't he, Matt? Obviously, we do a lot of stuff from what the EFL. And, and how are the team that just used to give up stacks of chances? So what happened to them? They deliberately became boring. Okay. Yeah. And it's, it's worked for them. They've just gone five in the back. Come and, come and break us down. It's also, it's almost like they've got so used to having lots of shots against him, that they're not that bothered when it happens. And they're like, well, they can almost like psychologically just, you know, when DMS is a chance, and they're like, well, don't worry about it. Yeah. We'll go again. Yeah. Mr. Yikirovich has credit that he's doing the same thing as he finished last season, but with a completely different set of players in the amount of signings that they've made. I think that's really impressive. And he's an ideal this week, Yikirovich. A new two-year deal. So often we see teams, and how have been one of them in the past, do really well at the start of the season and fall automatically. Is there anything about this side that suggests that they are not going to do, though? It's a team that everybody, myself included, predicted to finish bottom of the Premier League. There may well be a, I don't know what the reverse of cream rising for the top is, but you know what I mean, they may well fall to their natural position, which will be a lot further down the table. But if you've accumulated enough goodwill and enough points to ride it through, the mood around the club is phenomenal at the moment. And those home games, they, you know, it's a good atmosphere. Villera were kind of pushed in the first half as much as they had been up. Yeah, why not? Why not? You need to score goals to win games, and that's true. Yeah, I like Blue Me. I think he's got that creativity cutting in from the wing. But yes, Bernie is basically the only guaranteed source of goals. If you're not in the relegation, named a conger with. Well, yes, we could. We had a, what the NFL episode called, Blue Me Down with the Feather when he started playing. Oh, okay. He hit the bar. Oh, yes. You're in the middle of that kind of, yeah. And he is, as we talked about, Harvey Barnes being Iron Rob, and he's the kind of, he's the Iron Rob, and version of Iron Rob, because it's his left foot that he whips right. Oh, nice. Okay. Villar, meanwhile, did have a shot on target in this game, one, which is their first of the season. They've got Bruges and the Champions League on Tuesday. And then they're home to Forest. Yeah, it was Dr. Forest, obviously. So I can't say too much, jinx-wise. But my worry at the start of the season was about chance creation. And it still is. Ross Barkley is the only player who's created more than two chances than the first three games. He's created six. But he only played eight hundred of minutes last season. It can't be Ross Barkley creating all the chances. I know they've got them by a man's ambit to come back. But even then, it can't actually, isn't it? There's a lot to ask. It does just look like every player that they've replaced is slightly worse than the one that's left, which is a problem. If you're hungry to hear about Brighton Leeds, I know I am. It finished 1-1, lead's opening the scoring. Brighton responding with a giant new centre-bat, Luca Vuskovich, six foot four inches. He does score quite a few goals. Record show. He got six in the Bundesliga last season for Hamburg. Not bad, eh? Quite the weapon. Leeds, though. Adam Krafton was commenting on this game and said, their second half display was like England's against Argentina. To see. First half display was a pretty good day. Was it really good? Leeds, yeah. They're brilliant. They battered Brighton. I think Leeds are really a team. Top nine. Yeah, potentially Brighton. Not a great start to the season for them. No. Well, since the Villa Tonking. Yeah. They've looked very open since then. Yeah, it's a lot. Villa Tonking was nice, though. Yeah, I don't know. I just, yeah, I thought they were pretty flat in this game and they obviously gave up a lot of chances against Chelsea Wendaub. If they're going to be one of the teams, like I thought maybe Palace would be, that might find the addition of whatever it's going to be. 16 to 18 more games playing every Thursday night. I really drag their Premier League form down. This season goes on potentially, yeah. Well, that's early for the Mac Davies Adams. This is the team that's supposed to be. Mighting there, Daniel. That's a fairly incremental with a drag down, rather than anything specific. Don't know how you feel about Brentford and Sunderland. Perhaps very positive. The two teams shared a point, a peace Saturday. And I read that since the start of last season, no team has earned more points from losing positions in the Premier League than Sunderland. Got a bit of spirit, haven't they? That is, is that a stat? I mean, there are a lot of stats. Too many, some would say. But is that a stat that gives you a real reading as to the character? Yeah, of course it does. And to the manager. Because the manager is able to look at the game and improve it and make little tweaks and stuff. So yeah, Reggie Libreese is very good. I mean, in this game, actually, Sunderland, Brentford, this was a great point for Brentford because they were terrible in the first half. There's not very often Brentford are terrible. Like they, you know, none pretty consistent under Keith Andrews, but they were way off it. And maybe should have been out of sight. But yeah, in the end Sunderland spirit sort of got them. Got them back in. I thought there was a slightly bit of a dodgy goal, disallowed though for Brentford. I mean, did you any of you think that the goal you had that under control? Was it a J-Nantley goal? Yeah, I thought it was another one of those kind of touch and go and therefore you probably go out and go people both ways. But yeah, I did think it was, yeah, in a bit harsh. Mark Holmes referring back to our full-arm chat, suggest they should have pointed. Thomas Frank, were there to be an opening on the managerial set up in the future? Does it tap in his neck? Yeah, do you know what? This season can be really interesting for that because this feels like the first full season where the age of the sort of firefighter has got nobody's going to point Sean Dyson what I'm saying. So the who is that next, you know, is it Uber Eats, mate? That is very true, yeah, or Paddy Power. Yeah, one of those, yeah. But yeah, so Frank is seen as that next cab off the rank. I know, West London, et cetera, et cetera. But yeah, to me now, clubs are more taking risks with younger managers from abroad than them. Like Alvarado Ballard. Yeah, and it goes really well every time. That's the main thing. Yeah, indeed so. Cracky, well, we're whizzed through match day three. I don't know if there's anything else you want to add that we haven't touched on. Well, I was just going to add at a very selfish point of view that I was at Huddersfield on Saturday. Ah, yes. And I'm doing a, I will shut doing there, US Billionaire owner for the multi-billionaire owner. Multi-billionaire owner. It was Billionaire owner. Oh, do. Yeah, Kevin Nagel. Is he nice? Yeah, he was, he's really nice. He's, okay. Oh, he's, he's quite, yeah, he's a man who is really wants Huddersfield Towns. We really, really good, which is why he's quite fun to shadow. Okay. And what, why, what led to his involvement with Huddersfield Town? Well, he is one of, I think, 31 of the 92 clubs now have either significant or majority US ownership. So it's a, it's a deal. It's things, it's something they want to do. He owns Sacramento, uh, soccer club in US. He also was a Sacramento Kings MBA investor. So like he is a sports guy. But the, but the whole point is that I'm doing this series. This season where we tell, go behind the scenes at Huddersfield for a season and tell kind of what happens on a regular day at a football club. Okay. So like, how did setpiece coaches come up with every teams? How does a footballer pass a medical? What happens on their first day at a club of things like that? Well, how many days have you spent with Huddersfield so far? I've been to three games and I have spent four days up there already. Oh, it's on top of, yeah. And what's been the most surprising thing for you so far? Uh, I mean, I find the whole, like, I hope everybody else does as much as me. That's the basic tagline for the project. Well, I find the whole thing fascinating. Getting to spend time with football supporters see the 90 minutes and extrapolate opinions on, on everything else based on that. So the signings, it's all about the 90 minutes and what happens. So spending like time in the club offices and seeing how they operate to me is incredibly fascinating. If that's not the case for everybody, we've got a problem. Okay, but if you, if you would like to know more about that, in the eye, kind of, when you're doing the... Yeah, so there'd be about, well, between probably 15 to 20 features all season, the first one will be out this week with the shadowing Kevin Nagel. Excellent, excellent. Of course, that's your 95 almost, Matt, in the inside the club, inside the offices down at Cobham. I'll be interested to read to see what the comparisons are between League One and the Premier League, but with American owners with lofty ambitions. So yeah, bound by something at least. Eddie, and of course, Adrian, who lived the game? They lived the game. Yeah, still live and breathe it. Yeah, absolutely. Lucky, I'm a lucky man. When's your next, what the FL? Friday, that's our new start times Friday, isn't it? Excellent. Yeah, so preview in the weekend. All right, yeah. It's all good. I look forward to that. Many thanks for coming in today. Many thanks to you as well, Daniel, Matthew. Many thanks as well to producers Jay and Charlie. We, of course, are next. Totally football show, as mentioned, is the Euro edition out on Tuesday. Then we'll have an extra on Wednesday morning on a count of Tuesday night champions of the action. So perhaps you'll join us for some of that. For now, I hope you've enjoyed our presentation, and you'll be with us again soon from all of us here. Let's goodbye.
