Serbia World Cup 2026 Squad

Serbia's most talented generation arrives at WC2026 with Mitrovic and Vlahovic forming one of the tournament's most feared strike partnerships. Can the Eagles finally deliver on their immense potential?

🔴 UEFA Qualified ⚽ Serie A Firepower 🌍 Group B

Serbia's Road to WC2026

Serbia have long been one of European football's most frustrating sides — undeniably talented but prone to inconsistency. The 2026 qualification cycle was different. Under Dragan Stojkovic's continued stewardship, Serbia approached qualifying with a maturity that eluded previous generations. Vlahovic and Mitrovic traded goals, Milinkovic-Savic dictated midfield, and the defensive unit finally looked organized.

The headline was Serbia's record haul of 29 qualifying goals — the most of any UEFA team in their group. But the real story was conceding only 8: finally, the defence has caught up to the attack.

Key Players to Watch

💥

Dusan Vlahovic

Striker / Juventus

The 25-year-old Serie A assassin. Vlahovic's combination of power, positioning and ruthless finishing has established him as one of Europe's top-five strikers. His left foot is a weapon, his movement off the ball is underrated, and his ability to score in big games for Juventus suggests he won't freeze on the world stage.

🦅

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Striker / Al-Hilal • All-Time Record Scorer

Serbia's all-time leading scorer with 60+ international goals. Mitrovic's aerial dominance, hold-up play and predatory instincts make him the perfect foil for Vlahovic — one providing the target presence, the other the technical finishing. Even at 31 and in Saudi Arabia, Mitrovic's international record speaks for itself.

🎭

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Midfielder / Al-Hilal

The complete midfielder. At 6ft 3in, SMS combines physicality with technical ability rarely seen in European football. His long-range shooting, aerial dominance, vision and leadership make him the player who controls games. Serbia are a fundamentally different team with him in it.

⚡

Filip Kostic

Left Midfielder / Juventus

The engine on Serbia's left side. Kostic's crossing, delivery and ability to arrive late into the box are among the best in Europe. His partnership with Vlahovic at Juventus gives them an understanding at club level that translates naturally into the national setup.

🧤

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

Goalkeeper / Torino

The 6ft 7in giant who has become one of Serie A's best goalkeepers. His size makes him virtually unsaveable at corners, and his shot-stopping has improved dramatically. Having two Milinkovic-Savic brothers in the starting XI feels unfair — but it perfectly captures Serbia's generational talent.

🛡️

Nikola Milenkovic

Centre-back / Nottingham Forest

The reliable backline anchor who has become a Premier League stalwart at Forest. Milenkovic's aerial ability, organization and composure under pressure make him the man who makes Serbia's defensive improvement possible.

🔮 WC2026 Prediction: Quarterfinals

Serbia arrive as genuine dark horses. The Vlahovic-Mitrovic double-act is the tournament's most physically imposing strike partnership, and Milinkovic-Savic's control of midfield games is something top-four nations would kill to replicate. If the defensive organization holds, Serbia can beat anyone over 90 minutes.

The concern is tournament mentality. Serbia historically underperform at major tournaments despite individual quality. But this generation, led by Stojkovic who himself was a World Cup player of the highest calibre, feels different. A first WC quarterfinal in 30 years is achievable.
