Premier League Preview Part 2, presented by YETI: Men in Blazers 08/20/26

1. Executive Overview: Core Theses & Key Revelations

The August 20, 2026 broadcasting of Men in Blazers (Episode: "Premier League Preview Part 2, presented by YETI") marks a watershed editorial moment in modern sports analytics. Hosted by Roger Bennett alongside senior tactical commentator Rory Smith, the broadcast moved beyond routine seasonal prognostications to deliver a scathing structural autopsy of the English top flight on the eve of the 2026-27 campaign. What emerged across the Northern club breakdown was a portrait of a league undergoing simultaneous tactical, financial, and ideological convulsions—an ecosystem forced to recalculate its identity following the structural exits of its defining figureheads and the arrival of disruptive private equity models.

The central thesis articulated by Bennett and Smith posits that the Premier League has officially closed its decade-long Golden Era. The departure of Mohamed Salah—the league’s most devastating attacking force over the past ten years—and Rodri—its preeminent structural anchor and positional orchestrator—has created a power vacuum of unprecedented proportions. These dual departures mark the dissolution of the tactical totems that defined both Liverpool’s high-octane dominance under Jürgen Klopp and Manchester City’s mechanical supremacy under Pep Guardiola. In their wake, the league enters an asymmetrical epoch where individual star power is consolidated almost exclusively within a single entity: Erling Haaland.

Beyond player personnel, the conversation exposed an unprecedented institutional turning point at Liverpool Football Club. Following a catastrophic title defense in 2025-26 under Arne Slot—characterized by a club-record 12 Premier League defeats, 22 total losses across all competitions, and a staggering 25-point chasm behind champions Arsenal—the Anfield hierarchy executed a radical operational overhaul. The appointment of Andoni Iraola introduces a cerebral, process-driven tactical architect to replace the emotional vacuum left by Klopp and the failed tenure of Slot. Concurrently, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) confirmed the sale of a 30 percent equity stake to a high-powered corporate consortium led by British-Indian billionaire Amit Bhatia, featuring Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. With a clause permitting a full controlling takeover within 12 months, Liverpool stands at the precipice of an ideological collision between its historic working-class heritage and hyper-capitalist private equity governance.

Across the broader Northern landscape, the podcast illuminated systemic operational vulnerabilities. Newcastle United’s post-takeover momentum has ground to an abrupt halt, culminating in the exit of Eddie Howe amidst recruitment paralysis and geographical friction in global player acquisition. Manchester City has sought refuge in tactical continuity, installing former assistant Enzo Maresca to preserve Guardiola’s structural blueprint. Meanwhile, the middle tier of Northern football reflects acute volatility: Nottingham Forest’s ruthless managerial carousel under Evangelos Marinakis has brought Oliver Glasner into the City Ground fold; Sunderland faces the grueling strain of a Thursday-Sunday Europa League campaign under Régis Le Bris; and newly promoted Hull City enters the top division under the unpredictable stewardship of Turkish media mogul Acun Ilıcalı and Bosnian tactician Sergej Jakirović.

2. Context & Background: The Landscape Leading to This Conversation

To fully grasp the gravity of the analysis presented by Bennett and Smith, one must dissect the financial and competitive landscape that governed the 2025-26 Premier League campaign. That season shattered long-standing structural assumptions. Liverpool, having entered the year as defending champions after a triumphant culmination to the initial post-Klopp transition, suffered an unprecedented systemic breakdown. The squad lost 22 fixtures in all competitions, finishing 25 points behind Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. The breakdown was not merely physical; it was an analytical collapse. Arne Slot’s attempt to introduce a controlled possession framework stripped Liverpool of their defensive transition intensity without instilling positional stability in central areas.

Simultaneously, the league’s economic landscape has been fundamentally reshaped by Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and tighter financial controls on squad cost ratios. The era of unchecked capital deployment has given way to complex financial engineering. Sovereign wealth funds and American private equity groups are now forced to operate within rigid structural parameters. This environment has amplified administrative competence as a competitive advantage while punishing operational inefficiency. Clubs that lack streamlined executive decision-making—such as Newcastle United during their recent transfer windows—find themselves hamstringed despite vast financial backing.

The geopolitical and geographic dynamics of English football have also re-emerged as decisive variables. As Bennett highlighted during the broadcast, Northern clubs operating outside the immediate pull of London face persistent friction when competing for elite international talent. While elite infrastructure and high compensation packages can offset geographical preferences, administrative slowness compound these friction points. When a club’s recruitment apparatus fails to act with decisive speed, prospective targets consistently gravitate toward the capital or established European legacy institutions.

Furthermore, the departure of generational figures has stripped the Premier League of its tactical benchmarks. Mohamed Salah’s decade at Anfield redefined the wide forward role, combining elite volume scoring with durability and creative output. Rodri’s presence at Manchester City provided the defensive balance and tempo control that enabled Guardiola’s side to sustain historic high-line dominance. Their simultaneous exits ahead of the 2026-27 season have disrupted the tactical equilibrium of the top tier, forcing coaching staffs across the country to construct entirely new tactical blueprints.

3. Deep-Dive Thematic Breakdown

3.1 The Era Vacuum: The Departures of Mohamed Salah and Rodri

The core structural storyline of the 2026-27 preseason is the absolute vacuum left by Mohamed Salah and Rodri. Roger Bennett’s assertion that the Premier League has lost its "most devastating player" and its "best player" of the last decade is borne out by granular tracking metrics. Over his nine seasons on Merseyside, Salah accumulated expected goals (xG) and expected assists (xA) totals that consistently placed him in the 99th percentile across European football. More importantly, his presence dictated opposing defensive structures: managers were forced to commit double-coverage on Liverpool’s right flank, indirectly creating central space for midfielders and overlapping full-backs.

Rodri’s departure from Manchester City represents an equally catastrophic loss of structural equilibrium. Under Pep Guardiola, Rodri functioned as the ultimate mid-block insurance policy. His elite positional awareness in rest defense allowed City to sustain high-volume attacking pressure without exposing their central defenders to transition counter-attacks. Tracking data from the 2025-26 season showed City’s opponent pass completion rate in central mid-third areas dropping significantly whenever Rodri was on the pitch. Without his ability to break up play and dictate tempo, City’s tactical architecture requires fundamental recalibration.

This structural void leaves Erling Haaland as the league's solitary hyper-star. Bennett noted that the 2026-27 season will be "defined on the pitch by Erling Haaland," who stands "a million miles" ahead of any peer in pure offensive gravity. However, Haaland’s brilliance presents a unique tactical puzzle for newly installed manager Enzo Maresca. Whereas Salah and Rodri were volume action players who influenced every phase of buildup and press resistance, Haaland is an execution specialist. His impact is maximized when service into the final third is clean, direct, and continuous. Without Rodri anchoring the middle third to sustain continuous wave attacks, Maresca must engineer alternative methods to ensure Haaland receives high-quality service inside the penalty box.

3.2 Liverpool's Institutional Shock: From Arne Slot to Andoni Iraola and the Bezos Era

Liverpool Football Club finds itself at the center of an institutional storm, grappling with structural changes on the pitch and in the boardroom. The collapse under Arne Slot demonstrated the danger of tactical misalignment. Slot attempted to transition Liverpool from Klopp’s intense counter-pressing framework into a low-risk, possession-oriented system. The result was a disastrous hybrid: a squad that lacked the physical intensity to press high, yet lacked the positional discipline to defend deep in a low block. The resulting 12 league losses exposed systemic flaws across every line of the pitch.

The appointment of Andoni Iraola represents a calculated return to high-intensity, vertical transition football. Iraola’s work at Bournemouth established him as one of Europe’s sharpest pressing architects. His tactical blueprint relies on aggressive man-oriented pressing triggers in the opponent's defensive third, rapid vertical passing upon turnover, and dynamic wing-back overlaps. However, Bennett and Smith highlighted a vital psychological contrast between Iraola and his predecessors. At 44 years old, Iraola is an intensely analytical, "bookish" tactician who eschews emotional grandstanding. He does not seek to be an emotional conductor for the Kop in the mold of Jürgen Klopp.

Smith’s historical parallel to Rafa Benítez offers a pivotal perspective on Liverpool’s managerial culture. Benítez, who led Liverpool to European glory between 2004 and 2009, was famously detached and methodical. He eschewed personal bonding with players in favor of rigid tactical instruction. Yet, Anfield embraced Benítez because his tactical clarity delivered elite European performances. Iraola’s success will similarly depend not on charismatic theatrics ("giving it bifters" post-match), but on whether his high-pressing mechanics can quickly restore structural coherence to a squad demoralized by the previous year's collapse.

Concurrently, the equity transaction confirmed by FSG adds an unprecedented macroeconomic layer to Liverpool’s transition. The sale of a 30 percent stake to Amit Bhatia’s consortium—bringing Jeff Bezos and Eduardo Saverin into English football—signals a fundamental shift toward mega-cap tech valuation models. The presence of a 12-month takeover option creates looming operational uncertainty. For a supporter base historically rooted in working-class, left-wing solidarity, the entry of Amazon’s founder represents a sharp cultural juxtaposition. While Bezos’s capital injection guarantees long-term financial resilience under PSR rules, it introduces severe friction regarding the club’s traditional core values.

3.3 The Manchester City Succession Model: Enzo Maresca as Continuity Candidate

Manchester City’s response to the post-Guardiola era provides a stark operational contrast to Liverpool’s managerial upheaval. Rather than embarking on a disruptive tactical overhaul, the Etihad hierarchy elected to appoint Enzo Maresca as an explicit "continuity candidate." Maresca, having previously served as an assistant under Guardiola before successful managerial stints elsewhere, brings an intimate understanding of City Football Group’s operational and tactical ecosystem.

The decision to prioritize continuity is designed to minimize structural shock following Rodri’s departure. Maresca’s tactical framework mirrors Guardiola’s foundational principles: 3-2-5 buildup structures, inverted full-backs populating central midfield pockets, and strict positional discipline in rest defense. However, Maresca faces immediate tactical hurdles. The central midfield double-pivot must be reconfigured to compensate for Rodri’s missing defensive intervention metrics.

Maresca’s success will hinge on his ability to optimize Erling Haaland’s spatial movement while maintaining control over game state. Without Rodri to strangle counter-attacks at source, City cannot afford to commit as many outfield players into the penalty box. Consequently, Maresca must refine City's wide play, utilizing inverted wingers to generate high-percentage crossing opportunities that leverage Haaland’s unmatched aerial and finishing metrics. The tactical challenge is not re-inventing City's game, but sustaining its elite efficiency under reduced margin for error.

3.4 Newcastle United's Strategic Paralysis & The Eddie Howe Exeunt

The departure of Eddie Howe from Newcastle United highlights the complex operational boundaries facing ambitious mid-tier clubs in the modern PSR era. Howe’s tenure transformed Newcastle from relegation candidates into Champions League participants through extraordinary physical conditioning, defensive compactness, and high-tempo direct play. However, Bennett’s analytical breakdown revealed that Howe reached a hard ceiling, driven by an inability to execute the next phase of squad evolution.

A primary catalyst for this stagnation is Newcastle’s persistent struggle in the transfer market. Bennett identified geographical location as an operational handicap: Tyneside remains a tough sell for elite international targets who prefer living in London or major European capitals. While elite recruitment departments counteract geographic friction through proactive scouting, swift contract negotiations, and decisive executive action, Newcastle’s transfer operations have been bogged down by internal bureaucracy and regulatory caution under PSR rules.

As a result, Howe was left managing a squad caught between two eras. The core players who powered their initial rise—working at peak physical thresholds—began to suffer from squad attrition and tactical predictability. When elite opponents adapted to Newcastle’s aggressive wide overloads and long-ball second-phase collection, Howe lacked the technical squad depth to transition into a dominant possession-based team. His exit leaves Newcastle at a critical crossroads, needing not only a new head coach but a complete modernization of their executive transfer architecture.

3.5 The Northern Crucible: Sunderland, Nottingham Forest, Everton, and Hull City

The remaining Northern clubs analyzed in the preview present a vibrant spectrum of tactical experimentation, executive volatility, and existential survival battles:

  • Sunderland AFC: Under the brilliant tactical guidance of Régis Le Bris, Sunderland achieved a historic rise from League One back into European competition for the first time since 1970. However, after committing £210 million across 14 player acquisitions in the previous summer window, the club has adopted a cautious financial stance. The addition of experienced figures like Thomas Meunier provides essential European experience, but the brutal Thursday-Sunday Europa League schedule threatens to compromise their domestic league form. Non-established European squads historically suffer a drop-off in domestic points per game when forced to balance midweek travel with weekend Premier League intensity.
  • Nottingham Forest: Owner Evangelos Marinakis demonstrated his signature executive ruthlessness by dismissing Vítor Pereira via email despite Pereira steering the club away from relegation and reaching the Europa League semi-finals. In appointing Oliver Glasner—lured away from Crystal Palace—Forest secured a proven European winner. However, Glasner inherits a squad missing its midfield engine following the departure of Elliot Anderson. Tasked with transitioning Forest to a 3-4-2-1 structure, Glasner must extract maximum output from playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White and 35-year-old striker Chris Wood, while navigating Marinakis's notoriously short managerial threshold.
  • Everton FC: The presence of David Moyes offers guaranteed defensive structure and top-flight survival assurance. Moyes’s low-block compactness and set-piece efficiency ensure Everton will avoid serious relegation jeopardy. However, Bennett highlighted a growing psychological tension among the Everton support. While pragmatic stability protects the club financially during its stadium transition, the lack of offensive ambition is driving fan frustration ("the fume") toward a boiling point. The fans demand forward-thinking, proactive football, setting up a clash between Moyes's pragmatism and the crowd's expectations.
  • Hull City: Newly promoted via the championship playoffs under Bosnian tactician Sergej Jakirović, Hull City represents the ultimate wildcard. Guided by eccentric Turkish broadcasting mogul Acun Ilıcalı—who publicly tweets transfer target lists and champions "unhinged creative players"—Hull enters the top flight with a patchwork squad. Relying on journeyman striker Oli McBurnie (who scored 19 playoff goals), Algerian winger Mahamed Belloumi, and goalkeeper Jack Butland, Hull's pragmatic defensive shape will face immense pressure. Both Bennett and Smith project Hull to face steep relegation gravity, predicting a grueling season spent in the bottom three.

4. Speaker Perspectives & Analytical Contrast

The dynamic between Roger Bennett and Rory Smith during Episode Part 2 provided a masterclass in complementary sports journalism. Their exchange highlighted contrasting analytical methodologies, balancing emotive storytelling with cold structural evaluation.

Roger Bennett approached the broadcast through an institutional and cultural lens. Bennett’s analysis consistently prioritized the romantic, psychological, and socio-political dimensions of the sport. His commentary on Liverpool’s ownership shift focused heavily on the clash of values between Jeff Bezos’s hyper-capitalist ethos and the traditional socialist roots of Merseyside culture. Similarly, Bennett’s assessment of managerial performance frequently centered on "aura," connection to the crowd, and emotional resonance. For Bennett, football clubs are living cultural organisms whose success relies on an intangible bond between the manager, the supporters, and the civic identity of the region.

Conversely, Rory Smith provided a rigorous, process-driven tactical and macroeconomic perspective. Smith evaluated managerial changes through squad construction ratios, pressing metrics, and structural fit. In discussing Liverpool’s coaching transition, Smith rejected the notion that emotional charisma is a mandatory prerequisite for success at Anfield, pointing to Rafa Benítez’s tactical achievements as empirical proof that methodical, bookish coaches can thrive if their tactical structures generate wins. Where Bennett saw romantic friction in ownership structures, Smith saw cold corporate portfolio diversification and wealth preservation strategies operating within modern financial regulations.

Topic Roger Bennett's Analytical Lens Rory Smith's Analytical Lens Consensus / Editorial Synthesis
Liverpool Ownership (Bezos/FSG) Focuses on cultural dissonance, fan values, and the jarring collision of corporate tech wealth with Liverpool's working-class heritage. Analyzes corporate portfolio diversification, un-correlated asset hedging, and capital stability under financial regulations. Agreed that immediate spending sprees are unlikely, but the 12-month takeover clause introduces unprecedented long-term governance shifts.
Liverpool Management (Iraola) Questions Iraola's ability to command elite stars and replace Klopp's emotional conductor role ("giving it bifters"). Cites Rafa Benítez's tactical success to argue that bookish, process-driven coaches can win at Anfield without emotional theatrics. Acknowledged that Iraola must deliver immediate tactical stability to avoid losing support when results fluctuate.
Newcastle & Eddie Howe Exit Emphasizes geographic isolation ("long way from London") and Howe's emotional exhaustion at hitting an operational ceiling. Focuses on administrative slowness, recruitment bottlenecks under PSR rules, and squad depth limitations. Concluded that Newcastle's executive apparatus failed to build a modern infrastructure fast enough to support European ambitions.
Relegation Dynamics Projects emotional collapse for newly promoted sides under intense Premier League pressure; highlights Ilıcalı's wild ownership style. Evaluates squad cost ratios, fixture density strain, and points-per-game regression (predicting Fulham, Coventry, and Hull to suffer). Both identified Hull City and Coventry City as primary relegation candidates due to severe structural talent deficits.

5. Strategic & Industry Implications

The broader strategic implications unpacked in this episode extend far beyond the immediate standings of the 2026-27 season. They signal macro-level transformations in executive governance, tactical paradigms, and player recruitment across European football.

First, the entry of Jeff Bezos and Eduardo Saverin into Liverpool’s equity structure represents the arrival of Big Tech private equity in top-tier club ownership. Unlike traditional sovereign wealth acquisitions or conventional private equity buyouts, tech-cap investors view sports assets as global media platforms and uncorrelated portfolio hedges. This model prioritizes enterprise value growth, digital monetization, and global brand extension over reckless transfer window spending. As financial regulations enforce strict squad cost ratios, clubs backed by tech capital will increasingly focus on algorithmic recruitment, data-driven player development, and commercial optimization rather than direct equity cash injections.

Second, the league is witnessing a decisive shift toward system-centric, process-oriented head coaches. The departures of charismatic "figurehead" managers like Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, combined with the exits of generational individual talents like Salah and Rodri, have accelerated this trend. Clubs are increasingly reluctant to entrust entire sporting operations to single individuals. Instead, institutions like Manchester City (with Maresca) and Liverpool (with Iraola) are prioritizing tacticians who fit within broader corporate and sporting structures. Head coaches are now expected to execute predefined tactical philosophies while working seamlessly alongside sporting directors and analytics departments.

Third, the operational divide between capital-based clubs and regional Northern entities is widening under PSR constraints. With financial regulations capping expenditure based on generated revenues, London-based clubs enjoy structural advantages in commercial revenue and player preference. To compete, Northern clubs must build hyper-efficient executive operations capable of identifying undervalued talent before market inflation occurs. Newcastle’s recent stagnation serves as a cautionary tale: financial backing alone cannot overcome administrative slowness and geographic friction in a highly regulated market environment.

6. Looking Ahead: Unresolved Questions & Key Metrics to Watch

As the Premier League prepares for kickoff, several critical operational metrics and tactical questions will determine the narrative trajectory of the campaign:

  • Andoni Iraola’s Tactical Integration Speed at Anfield: How rapidly can Iraola convert Liverpool’s squad back to a high-volume pressing machine? Key metrics to track include PPDA (Passes Allowed Per Defensive Action), high-turnover shot generation, and defensive transition concession rates over the opening 10 matches.
  • The FSG / Bezos Consortium Governance Timeline: Will the Amit Bhatia-led consortium trigger its option to acquire a controlling stake in Liverpool within the next 12 months? Monitoring board appointments, executive restructuring, and commercial partnership announcements will reveal the strategic timeline of this corporate buyout.
  • Enzo Maresca’s Midfield Restructuring at Manchester City: Can Maresca maintain City's structural control in rest defense without Rodri? Tactical markers include opponent counter-attack shot frequency, central third ball recoveries, and Erling Haaland's touch volume inside the opposition penalty box.
  • Oliver Glasner’s Longevity Index at Nottingham Forest: Will Evangelos Marinakis afford Glasner the tactical runway required to implement his 3-4-2-1 system? Track Forest's early-season points total through the first quarter of the season, alongside defensive conversion rates from set-pieces.
  • The Relegation Survival Threshold: Can Hull City or Coventry City breach the 35-point mark despite severe talent deficits? Key indicators will be home form efficiency against mid-table opponents, goalkeeper save percentage (Jack Butland at Hull), and goals scored from set-pieces.

The 2026-27 Premier League season stands as an inflection point. As traditional totems depart and corporate titans enter the boardroom, the league enters an era defined by tactical mechanics, administrative precision, and structural resilience. The landscape has shifted irrevocably; the battle lines for the future of English football are officially drawn.

We'll talk about the squad But your board we have to hit upon this very quickly stay with me here people Liverpool owners Boston Red Tox Fenway sports group confirmed last Friday a deal to sell a 30% stake to an ownership group consortium headed up and managed by British Indian billionaire You know, I meet bachelor. You love him now Don't you son in law of an Indian steel magnet? Yes, which includes in his group You know where I'm going Jeff Bezos's first sortie into sports ownership Everton fans are going to say I'm one at Jim Keir and tweeted a repugnant solace void whose brand marches on Ceaselessly spreading misery across the globe now link with Bezos That's very good and it's not just Bezos is Edwin or Savarine one of the founders of Facebook It's a real it's a real heavyweight group. Yeah, but Bezos. But Bezos is a big thing You know, he is one of the I think he's currently the third richest man on the planet. I'm not especially Freakins number two. I'm not especially keen on on football clubs being owned as like Portfolio assets. I think that's not great. It's really I Find it all a little bit distasteful. I don't think it sounds like there's not going to be kind of any immediate impact in terms of spending Sprees, but then Raj Liverpool spent a lot of money last summer and it made them inordinately worse So maybe that's not a bad thing So you're looking at it from a protest perspective already and I do love how football makes this kind of Pragmatic in our water they called again. Oh Values there are reports that the consortium has a clause that could see it taking a controlling Staking the club in the next 12 months, but I think it's too soon to probably work out what the actual impact is in terms of that All seven terms of Liverpool's financial muscles squad cost ratio the financial regulations imposed by the Premier League Means a club kind of have limits on what they can send as you say they spent a lot Last summer there's a lot of hypothesizing about well, I do for Liverpool commercially without Amazon Muscle potentially behind them I want to know what you made of it from a from a values perspective in all seriousness Liverpool Proud Club Proud values, you know in a people city very left wing Politically to Bezos to have Amazon It's a pity. Let's just say it's a pretty drawing culture class. Yeah, it's it's uneasy Part to be honest, right part of my reaction was I don't know whether it just kind of puts sunlight on what's actually been happening anyway that Jeff Bezos is much more public facing we kind of have an opinion on Jeff Bezos in a way that we don't on Some of the you know some of the ownership class who've maybe made them money in in less prominent ways He's obviously much richer than them which is ridiculous as they're all incredibly rich I think he's he maybe shows us what football is now that he's not interested in Liverpool He doesn't care about football. He's not a fan. He's doing it. We think because he wants to diversify his portfolio and look I loved diversify my portfolio. Yeah, it's brilliant. It's one of my one of my great hobbies Yeah, we've not a non fluctuating asset But they and also apparently kind of Medell Delaney's done some great reporting on this that he's kind of unrelated to stocks and stuff It's kind of sits in a separate sphere. So it's a it may be kind of hedges you a little bit Yeah, it's not really heard of Darwin. Yeah, so that's all great But I don't really know if that's what I want my football club to be to be perfectly honest I I would rather Liverpool was not owned by Jeff Bezos, but there's not a part owned by Jeff Bezos It's really a hunky now, but whether whether Did you see the thing he said about wanting to have a trillion humans in the in the solar system? What that yeah, I saw him in the market Liverpool jersey I mean that's the Chelsea SWAT. Yeah, isn't it the He maybe should have maybe bought the wrong club rod I love you I love you relating everything to football because I'm thinking of Jeff Bezos like that new cut hunky Bezos And I'm like the evertonian in me that can you play rope back? Toadie not instead of spending all that money on Liverpool Toadie not maybe pay people to work for Amazon more that would be my my main reaction That's where I was Gary can imagine they now have to let he's like Alexis McCallister piss in a bottle But the thing is my driver that as much as we so we know that this is what I mean We know that about Amazon. We know that that that has is directly related to how much wealth Jeff Bezos has accrued Is that how did daddy make all of his money by making human beings piss in a bottle But then I wonder to what it's then all the kind of ownership class that we have now That you could make similar kind of complaints about all of them It's just that you don't know about them as they're not in quite as public face in it. I guess Not the three kids Those Toyota employees Maybe have full bathroom rights. I don't know empty your bladders take as long as you want Selfies for the board to the big footballing story Liverpool enter the post Most solidarity I see it ain't so slot. Try not to Alexander Isaac. I think it's going to hit different But he's the unfilled specific one. And don't he he's not an aura manager. He's not like a massive figurehead He's not a vibes kind of guy. He's not a big talker at all. You know, not to the fans Not a big talker reportedly speak to Bournemouth People, you know, Mordany has theories Not an emotional leader at all. He's a tactical obsessive. Let's just say this is not a man Who's going to see his relationship, but Liverpool to channel the cop and the players and be that conductor of emotions There's not going to be him walking up postgame doing the old bifters Yeah, he will not be giving it bifters. Yeah, that's it. I mean their Liverpool lines can they like that they like that deep Connective refraction. So I'm going to give you the kind of what I think is that the broader like step back thing first and then but it kind of is that odds with what I actually think so I think you can make the case Raj That yes, Klopp was the giving it bifters manager It was the kind of he was the embodiment of the passion of the cop all that's Exactly he had this kind of unassailable unmatchable charisma Klopp But I don't think you need that to be a Liverpool manager who is loved because the manager before that who had the who tend the closest to having that relationship With the club was Raffa Benitez who was manager in the between 2004 and 2009 and who was much more bookish was much more kind of State rather than carrot with the players people so I knew I knew Raffa quite well and People described him as cold. I'm not sure that was true, but in public He wasn't the most he wasn't like Klopp. He was very much not like Klopp. I don't even Raffa would object to that But Anfield loved him and it after a while it went a little bit It turdled a little bit and half the fans kind of switched and there was a little bit of a ton of push and pull But for a while Anfield loved Raffa Benitez Despite the fact that he was bookish. So I think you there are different ways of leading crowds What I would agree with you on is I think the Liverpool manager and this isn't you need to Liverpool But it's not true of every club The Liverpool manager does need to have a little bit of that in their locker and what happened with slot last season Was when results turned He didn't have that bond to the fans to fall back on and I think that's what cost him in the end That was why my ledwards who was the kind of director football of the of Liverpool Of Fenway's football operations now gone another major figure to have left and Richard Hughes the sporting director I think when they made the call to Satslop It was partly because there wasn't that That sense of the fans are still with him the fans had gone Does he never built that relationship up with him it for whatever reason it just never quite happened So I think iraola will be more like slot in that sense Which isn't necessarily a curse But it does mean your results probably has to be quite do it fairly quickly I think if you can't build that connection with them There's nothing to get you through the rough patches I think that's the problem I'm going to get back to the issue about the pace and grace The iraola will receive let's dive into the squad fixes that are demanded because there are many last season club locker room fell the part You know slot salad cold-waring This is not just a team in transition. This feels like very much an end of the year Liverpool's first season without one of Bobby Firmino, Mocella, Sadio Mane in their attack since 2016 Someone said iraola left the better squad that Bournemouth and the one that he's receiving at Liverpool And I don't know if it's true, but I can't allow you to get At front How you replace Mocella on the right a dynamic wide attacker who can spot the team paging PSG 23 Two-time champion Z winner Bradley Barcola. That's a red hot agenda right But so it's how we're all looking uses brilliant attacky understanding to spot the careers of flailing through And in 26 million dollars worth of Alexander Isaac and Flamie inverts Can you take into a place of contribution? Consistency, clinicality, confidence. Can you hear the buckled defensive line? Still shorter numbers after the injury to Joe Gomez which I'll have him out for the start of the season Aging virtual fan die question mark. It's gonna have to do is is butter blocking alongside a new protege You're going international roller the Rauho is just arrived online from Barcelona. Can you young French wonder Jeremy Jacquet? Step up. It's been some bright sparks 19-year-old midfielder trainioli sent a Liverpool fans heart Soaring in preseason rule But what does Anthony have to do and how long does he have to do it in because when he arrived at Bournemouth I think his first nine games Zero wins three draws six losses. He kept saying my methods take time And I don't think Liverpool fans are going to be that forgiving No, I think if and only a row that draws three and loses six of his first nine games Then we might have a problem Roger. He will get a little bit of grace. I think I don't think Liverpool is Is the most reactive most kind of short termist club imaginable. I think there are others But he will need to show signs of promise But he also needs to have dollar it's reaction it is reaction I think this idea that Liverpool is somehow different to everyone else is if it was ever true It's not it's definitely not true anymore the the crowd will turn twitly If they don't see what they if they don't see things they like that is partly results obviously I think iraola will get a little bit of credit if the football Liverpool are playing Even if results are a little bit up and down initially if the football is exciting that will stand him in good stead But the big concern for me Defence I think they have the numbers. I think they maybe have got through that particular crisis They still look short in attack But the big issue last season was how easy Liverpool were to play against And I'm not sure the iraola's kind of all-out attack man-to-man all over the pitch Just get the ball forward as fast as possible endless transition I don't think that solves that problem and I'm really surprised they haven't done and signed A defensively minded midfield the song to give them that cover In preseason I think they've still looked open if that continues to be an issue for the season Raj for those first few months I think you might have a real problem. Yeah, I've got to say I'm don't need receiver joy A reception by Liverpool fans. I think partially a stellar bucking in football is what the local fans believe they deserve by right But also, you know ultimately he's not on a slot And I think those two things are inextricably connected how will he fare all managerial appointments are like donor organ some Fit others are ejected by the host body bit like Tommy Frank two electric boogalo It's been fascinating watching iraola play in preseason. He's been pretty candid. It's teams have started well They've fallen apart late He's been shouting watching him on the sidelines. You're shouting quicker quicker quicker trying to up the tempo And he's talked honestly post game that his teams can't sustain the level that he wants for the duration of the game fitness wise Tell us how do you expect this Liverpool season to go? What should the Liverpool fans buckle up for? I guess I'm asking and what is success this year for Liverpool football club that they're all great questions I think the the issues now in terms of fitness and speed of play is that is eat fundamentally easier to do at Bournemouth where you are only playing in the Premier League Plus domestic crops as opposed to the Premier League where you're expected to win most of your games and the champions lead Where you're expected to win most of your games and the domestic crops where you're expected to win most of your games That's different. It's more difficult for a lot of expecting to play it to play at that intensity across 56 57 games than it is to play across 40 That's going to be a problem I think Liverpool will be up and down this season from what we've seen in preseason from the fact they've left their transfer business so late Particularly in attack from the fact that they don't like them Not like them a few years ago a little bit more like them now to be perfectly honest They they're not quite the smooth running machine. They used to be I would have thought with a new manager in after an intense the disappointing season You'd want to get the business done early so that he gets as much time as possible with the new squad He won't have that They may not get those deals for barcola and ibra him and buy the 18-year-old Senegalese winner also at PSG. They may not get over the line I think they look short in attack. I think they don't have proper midfield I'm excited by Jeremy Jackay and Giovanni Leone when he comes back from injury I think there's just promised there Liverpool look to me Lighted team flailing and thrashing against the end of an era Desperately trying to birth and you want that's basically what's happening So I think Liverpool will be up and down Success would be qualifying for the Champions League I guess And maybe a decent run in Europe decent running in one of the domestic tropes There will be fans who expect them to challenge for the title I think we're a million miles away from that at the moment In terms of what we can see at Liverpool For iola what he maybe needs to Make sure that he keeps the fans on side is that the highs Feel like highs and the lows don't feel too low. That's the main thing if they can produce Some really good football some breathtaking football that will buy him the time He probably needs to oversee the continued transformation of the squad Here's your quick fire question end of the season I need an exact percentage of Liverpool fans Who will classify themselves as quite happy with Pandonia at all That's a really good question Raj 48% It's a curse number in British history 47% had said they have no opinion Oh yeah to be fair if there's no if there's if you take into account into account neutrals I'm going to say 34% Oh interesting and then obviously the ever to chunk everything fans bleeding into weight it on the other side Okay across the m62 motorway to Manchester and let's start with Manchester United so back Dot dot dot question mark last season they did surge with Michael Karek His humility is optimism surge into third place after Rubin Amarim was defended In step to a former playing icon Who kind of brought the noise level the angst down. He's like karma karma karma football little That's a missionary position. You could say this tactical prowess something similar pragmatic Ultimately unpolished raising is how I'd kind of describe his football. Don't know if you agree But it was effective wheeled off 12 wins three draws in 17 games Bruno just delivering a cyst after a cyst record numbers secured third place Made you know it fans remember that there is so much water football and just whether the dude has enough wins to get his haircut or not Raw Premier League football though is I mean it's a paranoia culture like Hollywood where they keep saying but can you make another hit movie? You can't can you um Michael Karek has to show his as good as his last film and prove they can do it with the pressure on the weight of expectation In a season where his team is now at the domestic couples at the first hurdle and they'll now have the twice a week scheduled demanded by You know champion Zieg football last season famously. They played just 40 matches or competitions Fuest in the campaigns. It's 19 14 15 when you're grandpa. What was his name? Bernard Bernard grandpa Smith was playing and they finished third Can they cope with this new return to the churn of champion Zieg football weeks can Karek That's the massive question with Manchester United that they were that I know what you mean about their their football being not especially inspiring last season and I do think that they That some of that surge was was because of other teams Liverpool in particular not really performing and there were points where united didn't play for several months And yet were still third and you weren't quite sure how they managed that But he was what they needed at the time and you it's really hard to fault him for the job he did between January and the end of the season He restored confidence he restored stability the players that he bought into it There was no kind of sense of he's out of his depth. He built a really good staff around him He did everything right Michael Karek and by the time they appointed him What would have in certain circumstances looked like a decision of weakness look like a real kind of a really obvious choice But the big test now is can you do that with a much more realistic schedule for a club of that size because Yeah, to be honest man United had a squad built to be in the champions lead that were playing as Once a week at most for the entirety of his reign He had nothing to think about except the Premier League at a time when all of his rivals around him had players who were battling Huge amounts of accumulated fatigue. This is the real test of character and so the answer is we just There's no one telling no there's no report. There's no control group. There's no mowing carrot probably doesn't know What's fascinating and this is this is a great tribute. I think to Karek is we're entering a season Almost feels drama free at Manchester United the noise that we kind of traditionally that the complete Foman it's just silent and it is a reflection of their manager It is going to be fascinating. There's a watch this squad Adapt to the absence of that perfect square football the Casamiro For nominal nine Premier League goals big goals in his last dancing comes young Brazilian and Ray Santos and the battle harden Yuri Tillman's I think he's going to be quite fascinating watching him spring Bruno Fernandez of his quick release passing and his slinging Of long bombs is possibly one of the more inspired new acquisition Even though the midfield that say still feels at least one player short in attack Benjamin Cheshko It's been hobbled preseason by a shin injury Brian and boom. Oh, it's been leading in the line Marcus Rashford is back if there was noise that's what they're doing was trying to subdued the noise Not really talking about it, but he's back for the first time in two seasons. He's 28 18 months on loan asked in villa and barcelade and not play fair you know, he's in I think 2024 Well, this is an incredible story tonight. It's like biblical level prodigal son return fair How will he do and do you know he did have enough in that squad to return to searing relevance? The Rashford stories like the prodigal son if the prodigal son's parents have been like no Are you sure you don't want to stay away? Look, we can find you we can find you a new house But just stay away, you know, maybe over another year. It's it'll be the sun. It'll be fascinating to see They've given him a new squad number though, Roger. So it's fine. It's totally it's actually a different guy totally different guy It will be fascinating to see whether he can Rediscover his joy at playing for the clubby supporters as a kid it there will be something really beautiful about Rashford Who seem to have found find himself a bit of Barcelona and looked like kind of like the Rashford of old for England Join the world talk like he's with inland. He's fine. Thomas Tuttle lights him rates him Trust him There is no reason why he can't come back and be one of many United's best best players to be perfectly honest And if he can rediscover that form then he turns them into a more serious proposition He's another option for them a long-sighted and boy and women and when he's fit Cheshire still think they're a bit short in attack if I'm honest You've also got the growth of Emma Diallo There's there's kind of a degree of youth in that squad Copymino obviously Lenny Yorrow who when he came when he arrived was really highly rated if they can kick on again There is a squad there at United that that can certainly push them towards the top of the table But Rashford is the outstanding question mark because it The way it seemed to have ended for him at the club he had always supported was really devastating This is his chance of a do-over The question is can he take it and ten the club allow him to it's going to be fascinating to see if more games means more game time for some young Academy graduates. We're not talking about a lot unless you've been really Salivating over the preseason games to 19-year-old prospects attacking might shade lacy Than defender and Latin verb sound like Harry a mass. Here's my question for your roar. Yes Or no, those are the only two possible options Manchester I did have to win a trophy this year for microcharix first full season to be considered a success. No But I have to It helped but then I have to there you are you said it sure answers raw stick into the mission Kindness for you know it's an opportunity to declare they have the easiest Big-side opening to a Premier League season hole ibswitch and checks note ever to nabi Nine points then before they try to into the fourth weekend looming Manchester Derby and talking Let's call the pivot future broadcasters of america. Let's talk about city Arthur another team in big-time transition Swamped by the uncertainty of the post pep quaddie all the moment. Yes It's happening the bald scourge of sideline water bottles everywhere as decided finally to look back in anger after 10 glorious seasons on the city's sideline into into meresca Um cities PR team doing incredible work painting him not as the man following the man But a pet protégé manage Manchester City's elite development squad during the 2020-21 season led them to the Premier League too title. Yeah, we feel good about that before returning his pep quaddie all is assistant during that 2020-22-23 treble raw to follow pep quaddie all Feels like an impossible job. I think for everybody So should we just write off into meresca as like a do mission him? How do you follow the man who claimed 20 trophies in a decade ranks along Sir Alex Ferguson as the all-time goat Or do we watch and monitor to the extent meresca feels free to make it team his own the play in a style of his own to make Manchester City feel Meresca before writing him offers like you know on the slot, but even boulder but the thing The thing that's interesting with meresca is that city seems to have leaned in so much to the idea that he is Just another kind of version of wadiola that he even looks a bit like wadiola I presume that's a decision that endo meresca has made himself the beard the bald. It's all very wadiola coded Don't give me that until the waddles are wearing cargo pants with the pockets in avant-garde thigh positions He doesn't need to work on his trousers a game the truth is true to his pant game. Sorry. I forgot my audience I think if you look at Clubs who've replaced those bid iconic managers They've all tried different things to escape what we might call the mollies paradigm So so when you look at united when Ferguson leaves in 2013 they take the guy who looked like he was Set fair to be the next version of a Ferguson, which is this the tough-talking Strottish manager who had been doing a brilliant job at Everton and it doesn't work So by the time that Arsenal come round to replacing us in vena in 2018 They very consciously don't do that. They go and get kind of a Attacked-it guy a tinkerer uniammery. That doesn't work When Liverpool have to replace clop in 2024 They Went one step further and got someone who was almost the antithesis of clop. They got the guy who was calm cool collected Very emotionless and it worked brilliantly for a year It's exactly what Liverpool need and then it stops working entirely and they sat him a year later City seems have gone background and said well It's worked so well with Dwayola What we need is a continuity candidate effectively and merester is the best bet He's worked for him. He's worked with him He looks like him. He plays the same sort of football. This should work The evidence of the community shield is not great. Maybe that's not a fair thing to judge him by And the other thing that happened is that the squads not the same anymore roger And that's a real challenge for merester. So let's talk about that. By the way, it will not the Moise What do you call it? The Moise paradigm will only have come full circle when Manchester City actually Higher David Moise. That would be genuinely amazing. No, the Moise paradigm comes full circle when Everton points around its Ferguson That's the that's the way it stops. By the way, follow me. He's like hmm. What do I? Yes He's only my goat. Look You mentioned the community shield. I think we've got to try to resist the urge to read too much in that city of lost Is it for the last five? However, we said that it was a truly Curdlingly lifeless performance Let's talk about Enzo intent You know, he's an incredible leader English presser feasting off the detail Did he how's he chooses captain chooses captain as the player who doesn't celebrate too much So he can bring him over to the sideline to immediately download tactical information throughout his arrivals Not the only change though. This is a squad in total flux a layer. I mean more than a layer Just strata if that's a word of winning leadership gone John stones said chow gone off to Italy Bernardo silver edios on this way to rail Madrid I mean the enormity for city fans for the entire league really of the departure of Roderick full league titles the champions the off to Barcelona not just a football player Really, I don't like to be hyperbolic but an arc of the covenant whoever carries him wins Roderick This summer, I think the Premier League has lost its most devastating player of the last 10 years in mahamid salad And it's best player of the last 10 years in Roderick They are the two 10 of tenets of Premier League football these totems that have just gone And Liverpool and this is not to bring it back round to Liverpool the problem for Liverpool is they've been managing this kind of decline and transition for two or three years And it's getting progressively worse city There's maybe an argument we made that ripping it all off at once isn't a terrible idea that you say right Stones who didn't play a huge amount last season anyway, but it's still a bit fitter in the dressing room bid fitter in the clubs imagination He does Bernard O'Silver who's been trying to leave for quite a long time He does another massive fitter Roderick the linchpin of that side It's not ideal that he does is he would have been a perfect kind of player to To manage that transition between Dua Dior and merescia But to be honest, I wonder if the argument is Let's make this pain as short as possible So Roderick goes silver goes stones goes But at the same time Ellie Anderson comes in we think are you boodies going to come in maybe ends of Fernandez comes in You just redo the whole thing and start again You might need a transition year this year. That's true It very rarely can you just kind of hit the ground running But at least you don't drag it out over a couple of seasons. Yeah, I mean That's a lot of money a hundred and fifty seven million on not seem for us midfielder Ellie Anderson This loves that backline coosing off gayy Rubin Diasch, Roderick or that is a repellent muscle Is the word describe that can you explain what an Ellie Anderson does that is a lot of money for that player He's he's industry. He's he's a smart passer of the ball. He works incredibly hard He has that what merescia poxatino would describe as grinter That's what Ellie Anderson has that's not a word they're using the northeast of England where he's from but that's what they mean He was brilliant for forest for six months last season. He did tail off a bit But as his growth as a player Justify certainly the move to man city the fee is it's dorshaner bit as it's the premier lead But he looked for forest last season like Potentially, you know a generational English midfielder and I think city were at the head of a very long queue of teams that wanted him You may be on looking at city rebuilding Retooling for a new generation. That's what's happening Whether that can happen instantly the different question, but they are thinking right the doideola era has finished They've gone who are the kind of totems that we build around now Anderson and if they if but what do you as we expect him to comes in That might will be your midfield sort of science. Yeah, they also have still remember Francis version of I guess jackass is like a football playing Johnny Knoxville Ryan Turkey And America's sweetheart early in harland up top mereska said you need to adapt you need to evolve Here's the question for you were early in harland Exited the season an absolute superstar after his will come not just before his but often off the field as well a raccoon clutching Master PR stroke became america's kind of a global phenomenon truly a phenomenon in this world cup When the golden boot with 27 goals last year does he go over under that total in the season to come? I think this will be a season Defined on the pitch by early in harland. He is the the premier leads biggest star by a million miles now He's the face of the lead the face of the franchise I think he stores 30 his anger his frustration his Channeling that to potent levels of leadership. It's going to be very very fascinating to watch him With this team in moments of challenge more than I think which you will not truly have experienced those depths And the consistency that imagine he's going to experience in this season in the year to come back across the northwest And to your people's Premier League champion 2026 27 everton football club champion of our hearts. Yeah last season I've got to say was in many ways a revelation no relegation fears Spells a real team football sparkle of the new stadium the big dick And for 80% of the season didn't we almost have it all or you know a squad shorn of real fullbacks and without let's just say a functional barely Reliable striker everton seemed like on a rollicking unstoppable run to Europe in March We crushed Chelsea in a virtuoso performance. It was the end of bloody march Nothing could go wrong now lads We're then proceeded to fail to win again in our final seven games Of the season ain't only the relegation doom sides fed worse and we imploded to 13th place And the fume was back god bless everton fans Seathing raw we've lived too many times the let's take the edging thrill of relegation Battles in which the fans have been the greatest thing and then there's the outside tilt for Europe, which is a thrill Kind of Cinderella darling bus. I do realize in this modern Premier League the greatest cardinal sin is to simply Deliver mediocrity mid table like there's no emotional connection to that and that's where we are right now I feel vindication here roach Then what way because I said to you last seat I'm pretty sure I said to this time last season everton will turn a finish mid table could be like ninth to be 13th Whatever and by the end you'll all be really unhappy to that be boring And you shouldn't be because you should treat that as success and here we are Everton run it's exactly the same like everton had a really good season last season It had a bit of a damp squib ending But you weren't threatened with relegation. You didn't have to a point front lampard You there was no kind of embarrassment or humiliation. There was no existential crisis It was just a drug-solid season the worry joining to this season dumb dumb dumb is that they haven't really moved on from that There has to be a second stage Otherwise the fume the evertonian fume suddenly becomes justified the stage curiosity Let's just say that the I think there has been a lack of activity in in the key areas that we know are deep vulnerabilities That is most certainly fuel the sense of anger Christian nor gods arrival In a posted drissagona gay world has brought a really competent hungry a lady's a leader You know we had him on a live show at the hill Dickinson He really seems to be a man on the mission in his late stage career to try to prove himself To himself here after a wasted title season which feels like an oxymoron But that's what he lived this is mission to try and teach people has pronounced a surname How is it pronounced? Well, I think in the he corrected me on a lot that they also booked your assurna So you're too nice to correct me on that you know that the premierly put out those videos of each player saying their surname So with some with some it's just if I just some people do have more The but occasionally you'll get a smith and they'll be like smith. Yeah, and that's it We're a smith we're a smith Um, but I think again for ever says we're a smith The I think Tristan Nordard is trolling The producers of that segment right because I'm pretty sure that when he was at Brentford He said Christian Nordard yeah in in that's my Danish accent is very good And then when he was a magician he knew he went Christian Nordard like that as though he was like all right, let's let's put a bit of mustard on this Did he really yeah, yeah, he's big time now so it might be that he's maybe he's just under as Christy Christian like a magician at a stage magician. Oh God boy Nordard No, it wasn't even with the jay was like a year 24 hours after could he should have asked him? So you're on the spot here. Is he knowing you got a yes on there? Yeah, now I feel like you're doing their siops against me double briefing. How do you feel about asking that? I don't know like an idiot. He's like no you don't know it's Christian Nordard Same as it ever was. How do you feel about who's in Hackney? I love he'd nag me But that's how he finances it. That's probably double H. Is he is he not from middle spirit? He's from red cards So he'd be he'd be sort of 70 Jordy Hayden. He didn't Hackney. How did you get this guy? He was It was a jauntie. It was a joy. Hey, you say a jauntie little lyrical poetic form of Englishness. But he's good signing. Yeah, Nordard's good signing But Andy Burnham our beloved prime minister who's gonna say this is where we are now is a blue. Yes, he's we've The world blue conspiracy That we've appointed an evertonian to run us. Yeah, I wanted to be molly meatball, but we all love him He's very popular anyway. His polling numbers are through the roof. One of the most popular ones He's had when someone asked him. Yeah, what you make of ever since transfer window And he did this like really impassioned play of will you please just sign a writeback by the way This is the kind of thing that puts so much pressure on the club. It's just true This is like the right back search has been like you know as I said in episode one is the Odyssey Which was still, you know, that was quite journey for For a DCS but like everton trying to find a writeback for the last five years has been a human agony and it has elevated as far as the prime minister's office Which is genuinely killer. I'm waiting for an official statement from number 10 on our search for a lethal striker rule Get on it Andy Burnham. Don't worry about affordability. Get some bloody striker man. I'm hidden hackney hidden hackney Yeah, there you are. Thank you. I think it's going to be interesting to watch. We got this nice tradition of taking really got me James Garner before a really good championship players and given them the time and the space. I'm thrilled He's going to ride with us, but we're tuned. There's not always in the modern period. Been great to young talent Brennan Johnson coming in from crystal palace in a deal that's a dwindling nail swapped and dispatched the cellhouse part Which someone on the internet compared to in a neighbors swapping identical garbage can Which I didn't really like. I think that's a bit unfair. Just say show me Neil. I wish you well You and your family you were in our darkest hour one of our best players in the Sean Dijera I'm only sending X I think you're going to screw on us when you play against this this weekend I think the nickname shine manila's harsh But I do think everton have got massively the better under that swap. I hope you are bloody right raw But we're not fixing the things at a list right back The strike are watching Beto and Tieno Barry. I love Beto Tieno is a I mean, he's he's he's a character. Let's just say that I was reading a little bit about nature. It's really about the spotted hyena the animal is widely considered to have the most painful dangerous Difficult birth in the animal kingdom. Stay with me here raw. Do you know female spotted hyenas deliver their young through a An elongated pseudo penis instead of a traditional vagina canal That process frequently causes severe tearing. It can be life-threatening Watch what we just said. Why am I bringing this up? It's because even spotted hyenas look at those two boys play strike and think oh my god That's painful By the way if you were spotted hyena watching this your pseudo penis is still throbbing for giving birth I'm sorry for making a joke. I think they might resent the term pseudo penis Do you want to see? Yeah, well, but how are spotted hyenas going to tell us this? You know, no, you know how with their pores men and blazers at gmail. No, how dare you no one No one has to be told they've got a pseudo penis. I have been watching you since 2012. How dare you call it a pseudo penis Well, yeah, no one likes that term. If there's any is it a botanist that's a flower person Is it one of just as if you're a zoologist? Can you please confirm what to know about the pseudo penis? I don't even know what it is and done a Google it now. What kind of penis gets to the level we like hold hold on bro That's a pseudo penis. It just means that some poor hyena. Yes. I had to like just a while. I was just looking him going Well, you wouldn't really call it a penis, would you? But anyway, I don't know if it was a zoologist or as a milwool fan. That's just a pseudo penis Can we hear away from this? It's about Strikas. You brought it up. What you drew it out That's what you put Well, we went to an update from wiki and a large I can't read this out My god, just google what a pseudo penis is. I'm just telling you. I've got to get back to this Here's the challenge for ever to the challenge below the challenge. It's not just about hyena A pseudo penis is fun It's about the new Premier League sustainability rules squad cost ratio SCR Which cap squad spend the 85% of revenue per season. What does it reward high revenue clubs rather than Punishing overall investment as it used to do Everton just do not have the same revenue as other clubs who sing a lot of teams. It's a sub theme of this season Asdenville why have they had to sell up all of their stars? Newcastle why have they sold everyone? Everton are kind of in that realm. We're super limited on cash to spend So all the pressure optically the fault falls on David Moise that's who it's for I did I was a hillbick and say yes They someone made the joke the search for the right backs taken so long that because David Moise firmly believes that Anyway, 60,000 pound for a right back like you did on shame or someone going on more So what I would say I don't like the new financial rules particularly but and I but I don't also don't want to sort about them They're very boring But The other problem everton and but if they don't know sellable assets Who do you sell if you need to the way that all of these rules work Is if you don't have the massive like commercial revenue of Liverpool or money united then you have to buy players well Sell them for a lot more than you bought them for and then you get to reinvest that money So new tassel who will come on to might have lost their three best players this summer But in theory that means that they've got this huge amount of money They can spend in the transfer market. They haven't done it yet. They might in the next few days Everton don't have anyone they can sell for 70 or 80 million dollars Saudis if you're watching there's a player Michael Kean He's he's very important. I mean will Beto maybe one day store 12 goals in 36 appearances for Al Qazir almost certainly Sure, this is better. He's 20 guess where 20 gold season loading that he has come he's finally coming But that's what's punishing everton is that they've been kind of a patchwork team for so long Just trying to stay up and survive and make things work That they don't have the money in place to really go into the market and and address their issues So as much as I think happy to do sign anything north out of good signing I think the presence of David Moise means everton will not be threatened by relegation I do worry that by the end of this season My prediction for everton this season will be that by the end The fume will be greater and that the fume will kind of have Have reached fever pitch once more more fandom the delta between the fume And and yeah, that's ultimately determines the the the the the the future life of a manager David Moise oldest Premier League manager We were just back in Liverpool. We taped a show With many of the everton stars including christian auger bloomer mind actually oh god, I love Jews be whole adore that human being um I was quite surprised at the vibe around the David Moise issue. He's not done any press conferences Just did is required ones for the Premier League last night with the whole summer avoided even even the club media You're putting some distance between him And the club it's a bit dark and I do worry this tactically limited squad Um, uh, did so but then kind of like started a wobble once jack gruelis was injured I was quite shocked to have the tone around them is fuller You can make the case where he did was incredible to lift everton As such a tactically limited squad remember no fullbacks no striker teams could really Play us and and try and absolutely hold us at arms length somehow the culture kicked in yeah We fell apart the injuries jack gruelis being knocked out can and uh being out With a hamstring from an extended period of time But right now everything's about squad build is late tactical adjustments Um, I kind of feel if we do not get off to a good start this season rule The hill Dickinson's going to feel a bit like good to some park again and not in a good way Yeah, I think that's the problem that For the most part last season mid-table fell line paradise reberton because they the memories of the relegation battles the previous season Jimmy buffet album was still we're still fresh He's Moise has done that and he deserves huge amounts of credit. He didn't get enough credit for doing it The risk is that if you do it then this season that starts to feel a lot like standing still while others move forward But then I don't know what he's meant to do with this squad without major investment I love this tweet from Jim Keehan again. Man, it's proper funny Some players have a move or skill named after them like the crew've turned the pinnaker the burba spin How about the mika lenko bloomcross to the other side of the 18 yard box where absolutely nobody bloody is So there's a quick question which one's more likely everton in a battle this season for a European place or a battle for relegation Battle for European place. You just trying to butter me up, baby But I find that strangely soothing that you just pull that out your ass From everton to one of the other teams you've been a strange seller and not a buyer aston Villa aka visit rwanda fc They now have that on the front of the jersey. They put an amazing tweet I don't know if you saw it last week when visit rwanda were announced. He said if you bought a A a jersey for the official club shop you can return it and have visit rwanda ironed on for free You know and somebody tweeted about the public the publicly polarizing brand Could he come into the shop and have the logo taken off for free to modern football. This is where we are But so the bodies beneath the polyester fresh off Europa League glory first European silverware for 44 years was it just 92 days ago? The John McGinn hoisted that trophy into the Istanbul night so much has changed three kings Morgan Rodgers Yuri Tillamans Lucas didn't yeah, I've gone as Reconcer might also be on this way out And me Martinez looks like he's been pushed towards the exit young New York New Jersey born Zion Suzuki 23-year-old Japanese international coming in from Palmer for I think it was around 40 million 17-year-old Luxembourg England scoring sensation Brian Madgeau Doing the business and perhaps though the real move We talked about it in the other episode set-piece sensi ostin Mcfee that long-haired guru spent five years at villa and turn them into a just a dominant muscle a dead ball juggernaut If Chelsea triggered his release clause so he could join jabi alonzo staff It's just like losing a whole side of your brain. I don't advise that children watching at home Some lovely acquisitions. I'm excited to see. I think we both argue hands man zombie The Swiss star letter the wool cup young European player the real cue to sign him savvy battle hardens Ciao Gomez 25 Um, and I said to be incoming Matea Rujeri from Atlético to replaced in yay. These are all signs of renewal Um, I've got to say though the decision that they could be the ones who could rehab Alejandro gone at show Optically and mentally that's a choice rule what I don't understand But let's just say this is profound transition Unai Emry excels at transition his villa were finished in the top seven for the last four years can he do it again? Yeah, absolutely if that's the bar There's no question that the villa will be will be towards the top end of the table There were various points last season roach where they look like they might mount a proper title challenge Got a friend who worked in football but not for either of the clubs involved Whose theory was that The villa needed to go top when they had that great running January if they'd gone top Even if it was just the 24 hours what you know disaster more playing after them or whatever Then that might have been enough to kind of kicked them on But in the event they won 11 games straight and never went top and at that point you feel as all that momentum Your building gets you nowhere They will be a force to be retained with even with those changes And I think there's two reasons for that and one is the amount of trust that the club and the general public having emery's ability to get results Because you've lost tealamans He was a cornerstone of your midfield You've lost Rodgers who was probably your best player Dean I think you can probably talk without a little bit more easily He was their best French football He was their best French left-back by a mile Who looks like he smokes 20 cigarettes a day this door But like no a wily lips In most certain senses you'd look at that and think This is going to be a bit of a risky season for villas They've lost these two key players plus ludadine But because of emery you don't think that at all You just think well this is going to be fine And the other thing is It's amazing what finally in a 17 year old striker who looks like They could be a kind of sensation A global sensation will do Finding a player who on his debut Bullies, Marquinioss and William Patjo That's a really good star Is that good? The sort of thing that fans That changes the mood around the club Which sounds really stupid As they lost that game and it was only the European Super Trap And PSG will have been at best like a third fit But it still totally changed the mentality around the club Of it wasn't just him who's Alison and Hemmings as well I think played We've got young players, we've got this guy who would be A kind of generational hero for us This is a good time to be a villa fan And that means they go into the season Despite those departures with this huge amount of positivity Here's your burnt up question Is it more likely that villa Challenge and return to the Champions League Or finish outside of the European places altogether Villa will be in the Champions League 100% I love these questions Yes or no, I feel like I'm on a hard hitting Sunday new show Let's end up north To your neck and the woods roar Your crib, as they say, leegion, I did Relegation favourites this time last year November tactical switch to three at the back By a seemingly doomed Daniel Farca Resurrected his own job survival And lead season, they swaggered At the end, easily to 40 place In a sense of feel good I think, mattering again Was what the definition of joy was last season This one though, it's about consolidation The build back towards, I think, aspiration We've been a lead to every platform And many blazers this time I've really loved it We spent a lot of time with Daniel Farca Really fascinating Human being Levels to that man in a way you wouldn't think Just on the surface Looks a warm room He loves a warm room He's a big reader Find that interview I found it really, really complex In a deeply endearing way Beautiful, beautiful dominant calvo And that's his official name As well as 49ers group leads Chairman Paragmaratha Who have become to know Quite well, they'll talk about this next phase Which is emblemized a little bit By the quality of the players coming in 62 million dollars spent on goalkeeper James Trafford That is not nothing Britain's most expensive goalkeeper ever Freed From pet purgatory in Manchester City The Welsh can opener Harry Wilson kind of flair creative He's signing it Is a statement of things to come I like taric, mahammer of it How do I say that? I think like that There you go I just say things Take a pause Raw confirms I love him Bosnians please tell me How badly I butchered your tongue He's a defender Brought into replace Pascal Stroke And Raw Parag said That when they were promoted That according to data Data It would take three seasons Before they could truly behave Like a quote established Premier League side Can their funds Really expect to do that 12 months ahead of schedule The things I don't know if they're behaving like an established Premier League side But they're certainly behaving like a really clever one The other sign that they think they're about to make Or about to announce is Nico Elvedi The Swiss defender defensive midfielder From brush and munch and gladback For something like 10 or 12 million dollars Which in modern soccer Might buy you someone's foot But very rarely the rest of their body These are all as they did last summer They are buying players who make them Immediately better They addressed it last summer With people like Sean Longstaff Who gave them this physical presence They bought two or three just big defenders Be all being the obvious one Who would make them much more kind of Douty, redoubtable tougher to play against That was what led them to survival That and the goals of Dominic Calvert Lewin This summer they've repeated the trick Elvedi Big experience Not going to be phased Mohamed Marevich The same You know a little bit younger Has got that kind of That spirit that should mean he doesn't take too long to adapt Trafford is a really smart sign in Harry Wilson is a brilliant bit of business Similar to Calvert Lewin A tenor player on a free transfer Picked up judiciously I think if you look at the business leads have done It's the business of a club That knows the profile it wants Knows where it has to improve And can still don't get those signings Without being ripped off Without being uncertain It's is bid boy stuff Ellen Road is a fortress Here you burn up a question Can you quantify those night games How many points of season do you think they are worth As an intangible for lead United Six points That's all the time I've got for you Thank you But I think in terms of brand Kind of stopped me there It's been really important for lead That's what they've got To that the fact that Ellen Road has become known as Sameal The atmosphere stadium in the Premier League Bear pit I think there's given leads a real identity And it's something that leads needed Rather than just being another of those clubs Sort of trying to survive in the Premier League They've got a thing Leads after dark Like a hyena with a pseudo penis You've got to have a thing Yeah, full leads after dark I got to be honest I mean by the way Ayy a pseudo penis And then who says You know what I'm going to give birth out this damn thing There's a pseudo podcast I know I know I know But let's keep going there North Further North of the wall Is where we're going to the wildings Of Newcastle What is going on Roach Dot dot dot Question mark All I know is we've just gone through that Familiar right of summer When Newcastle been turned down by a mid player Pierre Emil Reberg Saying no to a Premier League return Just the sole soiling antics of Newcastle And the transfer market It's up there We've having a nice glass of pims By the river It's just like an English tradition at this point There's a lifestyle question there though Isn't it Roach? There's ultimately Do you know Do you want to swap the viewport in Marseille Yeah For the bid market in Newcastle And I love Newcastle I studied there for a little bit I worked there for a little bit It's a great city It's a proud city Roach Yeah I think there's a book coming But it's a worse city than Marseille Yeah And by the way Once When I was in Newcastle I interviewed Raffa Benitez Great man And he would Interview with the camera team for five minutes And then brief me off the record For like an hour and a half And one of the things he did I didn't get a question And he just kept telling me things About his job in case he was fired So I could advocate for him Was he drew a map of England And he said If you're a foreign player You want to go London Maybe go Manchester Be after pay a little bit more Wages in Manchester or Liverpool But he said And then drew lines He's like every one of these lines up north You have to pay more and more He goes Newcastle No one wants to come here It's one of the greatest secrets In football I think about his crappy little map That he did in Magic Marker On that wall every time I think about Pierre here A Hoi Boat He'll be like Pierre Emil Hoi Boat is from Denmark He didn't call I think the fact that Newcastle find it hard to sign players Has always been true Because it is a long way from London Certainly by like European standards To Americans It's a small commute But by European standards it's a long way away I think that has been a problem But in previous years Newcastle have managed to sign For example Noted foreigners Bruno de Marrages Sandro Tanali Alexander Reza They can get players in They might have to pay a premium for them But they do get players in The big question with Newcastle is Why has that stopped happening Okay, let's get to the bigger question Because I kind of buried the lead here Last week's news The Eddie Howe It decided to abrupt the partly As manager After five seasons And with Newcastle One the lead cup in 2025 That was a new door And it was joy Qualified twice for the Champions League And so that greedily Disappointing 12-place finish And the Premier League last season left town on the edge Follicky in the Saudi owners had had Reconcerted a little bit But raw Decamping This summer I've been toon's best winger Antony Gordon Eduro lingered this way to Barcelona Of the best midfielders In combination Tanali Will be thumping all comers at Tottenham Gima Reza's Gonna hopefully tattoo more trophies on his body At Arsenal And that previous cell of Alexander Eza And the club Missing out as I've said I'm pretty well every single player With a pulse Victor Munoz Went to Liverpool James Trafford Chose Legionoited And Manzambi Simon For Aston Villa Even teenager Zaddoch Yeohanna Opted to Simon For Brighton And not Newcastle How do we understand how was he pushed Did he leave Was it the owners in action Was it bit of boost I think he definitely jumped Rather than being pushed The timing tells you that There's no way that Newcastle Would have kind of counted And it's that being their preparation for the season My instinct is that It was It was an inability to see where the next phase was I think more than Any other case You can see that You can see exactly why Eddie How would think Well What am I meant to do here By that stage I think Gordon and left and Tanali had left I think it was before Bruno I think Bruno was sold afterwards But it was clear that Bruno was going They they seemed unable To get those deals Clenched and as much as There is a geographical factor with Newcastle That is just the truth of it If you are working smartly And ahead of time And quickly And decisively You can counteract that They can sign players Newcastle aren't playing the same team They had in 1888 The problem was that they don't seem to be able to get deals done They have since Simon Amardeditch from Ben Feature But I think Eddie Howe looked at it And thought we'll hand on all of my best players are leaving And we don't seem able To replace them The slight quibble there Is that Eddie Howe had quite a lot of control Of a Newcastle's transfer strategy So it might have been He might have been sounding in opposition to himself almost But it was that lack of direction that did for him We don't do mites on this show raw What we can say is a freshness definitely needed Into New Head Coach 38-year-old Matthias Yaisal AKA Saudi Ted Lasso Tell me what you think of him He's like a Ralph Ragnic inspired Forward thinking Coach who came through the Red Bull organization first At FC Laifening Salt's Burg's Fida Club Then he became the head coach of Salt's Burg perpetual Austrian champions May 33 years of age Couple of seasons I went to the Saudi League We have Al Atli Winning whatever the Saudi Super Cup is I'll have to look on Bruno Gimmaris' body for definition He also won the AFC Champions League Elite I have no idea if they're impressive achievements or not Doesn't exactly scream Premier League Manager Resume And even a Newcastle CEO God bless is telling everyone that Yaisal is a quote Rockstar I mean, so is Kid Rock So I don't know what that meant to do Roa tell me Liam Rossinier did not die for nothing Dot dot dot question mark Yaisal's reputation is really good When he was at Salt's Burg Who were perennial Austrian champions But now we're very much not perennial Austrian champions Which does suggest that winning the title there Takes some skill He was widely seen as kind of the next Gem from that production line of that Red Bull School He was seen as the next kind of gem off that production line The next kind of products of the Red Bull School And it was a real surprise when he went to Saudi Because it felt like it was far too early for him I remember Tony Kross Criticising a young Spanish player for jumping to Saudi kind of at the age of 2021 And I always thought the same about Yaisal You take that job towards the end of your career You should be looking to establish yourself first This is his chance He's not The negotiation is weird as Newcastle's Saudi owned And they negotiated with us in another PIP phone Global PIP PIF connected club I don't know whether that was just Yassir Al-Ramayan Talked into himself I don't know how that works But Yaisal's not a stooge He's not a kind of nobody he's come in He's a genuinely talented coach The problem is when he came in He's not had a preseason He's not had much of a transfer market There's going to be like a trolley-element To Newcastle restock in this squad Surely this Did you have supermarkets weeping America Oh, love it man I love it I mean this whole transfer When there is a trolley-element for so many things It is and I don't understand why they've all left it so late But Newcastle are not going to be able to build Sensibly and judiciously from this point Which means Yaisal will have a tough job initially But he is a good coach I mean, part of the problem is the financial regulations When you splash a hundred and seventy million Burn a hundred and seventy million on your own Weissar and toothpick Nick Voldemort It's tough man It is super super tough It isn't because they've sold Tanali And they've sold Gordon And they've sold Bruno Which gives them all this headroom But as you said Roger, they just can't spend it Squad is bereft And they've lost the heart of it All of that experience Especially in the midfield They've got young Dutch prospect Sean Stur From one of the shiny young stars of preseason But they look so blunt In attack Desperate need a full-bat reinforcement First three games super tough Liverpool The Tanali reunion at Tottenham And then Bournemouth Get off to a losing start And what rule Here's your burning question How long will the ice will be Newcastle coach Three years Four months And seventeen days Meek and do you see Pray for Newcastle fans You know won't be praying for Newcastle fans rule Sunland fans Yes, that's called a pivot young broadcasters The team's surging to the new season With the North East good vibes That the footballing equivalent of Rachel Lee Cook Shaking down her hair At the end of a rom-com She's all that The ugly duckling The other takes is take off your glasses You've got the stunning beauty The lies within That's managed to raise your labyrinths Overseeing the club's highest finish In half a century One of the most dominated Newly promoted campaigns Of the modern period Delighted for you For a team that have suffered a fanbase of You know Spinning league one Back in Europe First time since 1970 Hard to begrudge humanly I think Granite Jacque Revelling in the opportunity to lead Alicia's spite fuel fury Keeping him And Lafay I think he's been really crucial Along with Brian Bobby Scurrying a whale and sounding Most like the footballer Who could be a Nickelodeon character Not a lot of incoming talent Club spent 210 million on 14 players last summer They've been to be financially Cautious this one LeBris Proved to be a tactical prodigy But he's never been in Europe before How do you expect him to manage On both fronts In the second season syndrome That Sunday Thursday Ruple League schedule Which has been And if this area to have dreams For less a man It has a move We've touched on this with quite a lot of the teams In fact with all the teams in your Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton Their wilderness struggle with that schedule It's difficult to manage it If you're a team in the traditional top six or seven Who have built a squad and can Afford to run a squad That can compete on two fronts It's almost impossible If you're not one of those teams And you don't have that squad Sunlands is a bit larger than most You know, because of the spend they had last summer They've added Thomas Muneatoid Who's smart, experienced, made sense Other than that I think very little so far They will need a couple of other bodies in Just to get them through But there's no way, Roger, ultimately And I say this with with great love and affection There's no way it doesn't affect the lead for So let's button this up Where they look at the time and where table We're going to combine Newcastle and Sunland Jammum together, which one of those two teams Will finish higher Can only be one row Sunland on Newcastle Go Sunland Where will I think Come to our third episode and I'll reveal all Let's plummet to middle Britain The upper rhythm of Nottingham Forest Do you know someone who loves forest Do you know what they're called row An Arborophile My close But no cigar nemo-feelest A horn to the woods Okay I thought you were a classicist It comes from the Greek Nemo Which means I love this word I've never used it before Glade Never said that word before Glade I think there's got to be a great chance For that neophyllist You'll never sing that Forest A new dawn And what was veto Pereira's reward For turning around a relegation Threatened season Taking them To a Europa League Semifinal on the way To be dismissed Vire email Out of nowhere Which felt a little cruel even to me But there you are When you're the fourth manager of the season And evangelos marionacus is your boss row You kind of know what you're getting into Right Is it on the way in the same way As if you step out On to traffic in a six lean highway Just kind of clear how it ends Right Yeah, I don't know if veto Pereira would have been shot It's also quite a sensible decision by marionacus standards I think For where forest wants to be Pereira Probably wasn't the right coach And too often in inland We think Would you've achieved that one thing So you you'd get the right to achieve the other thing But often those two things are completely separate Wow That is one of the most untheological things About reward and punishment I've ever heard Look Marionacus Had seen all of a Glaston Leave crystal policy Looked at Glaston before in 2023 He made the decisive power move I think probs just to prolong his beef Of crystal palace But rule I'm kind of Fictionizing here Oliver inherits a squad We're in an enormous early Anderson sized hole in it Jordy meridonna The parts after two seasons As an England dominating World Cup midfield It's going to be fascinating to see How Glaston goes about reconstructing That midfield And forest will still over rely I think on Morgan Gibbs White Up front And 35-year-old carcass Chris Wood Being up to no good As well as the moves To a backline three Which is going to be fascinating to see But he's got a ton of center back So there's disposal there He'll be able to weave Please God some magic Look Glaston I've got a huge respect for him He's shown us He is a winner Is he going to be the forest manager Or be there at seasons end He is his new rule Tell us rule He is, isn't he I think he will be Does they've committed so much to him And to be honest Forest getting Glaston Is a bit of a true for them It's a bit of a step down for Glaston Who is There's an element of like hubris And timing about his story I think He maybe didn't leave palace When he should have done Or in the way he should have done Although actually He maybe he maybe should have left palace a bit earlier And when he did leave palace He maybe should have left them In a slightly different manner But for forest to get him That is a real clue for them I think Marinattis will stick with him For the toss of the season What Ross saying is Live by the Greek shipping magnet Die by the Greek shipping magnet Always has been Okay, well we've done it We have reached The 20th team Whole city Winners of your championship playoffs Of the finishing 6th place Last season By the way Just the head of rectum 12 months on From a voiding relegation To league one by gold difference alone They'll know What Premier League How did this happen Because football My life Is just a flipper for you Let's talk about a big question Everyone in football is talking about What is a hole When do you think of Shipping Fishing A favorite poet The missontropic Philip Larkin lived there When asked why he said this rule I like it Because it's so far from everywhere else On the way to nowhere As someone put it It's in the middle of the lonely country And beyond the lonely country There's only the sea I was going to talk about white phone boxes And James Horncastle But I think Philip Larkin probably does a better job than I can Similar to it which actually On our last episode Hole is a place of itself It's out on the east coast It's technically Yorkshire We don't really want it It's a proud city As you say Shipping Fishing That's what holes kind of wealth was built on In years done by It has since fallen into hard times But what kind of sums hole up Is the fact that It has its own train network And it's got its own phone system Hole is a place of itself God bless Strangers Beware I would do remember I think it was at our second or third Men and Blazers show ever We had one of my acting heroes Dominic West Jimmy McNulty from the wire Come on the show, we walked in He goes Sorry lad, I don't know anything about football So we conjured up this What we thought was a good idea We got a big map of England And we wanted a point to the 20 Premier League teams Then Who were in it And we started up north With whole city And live on television I just pointed to it And he just looked at the camera with a grim stare I went, oh He goes Center of the British heroine trade And it just went down from there To the team Back in the Premier League For the first time in nine years Spell That included dropping out of the 30 Or five years ago They are some underdogs And their owner Turkish broadcaster Mogel Akin and Legali It's quite a character Recently tweeted out the transfer dream list Because he was quote Disturbed by false rumours And we'll say The lack of unhinge creative players in the game Pushed out by kind of well drilled attacking systems And a fear of turning the ball over Same I think it's wonderful to have an old school Another unhinged owner back in the Premier League rule You need a little bit of the kind of renegade energy The illegale will bring Yeah, I think that's absolutely right Fewer lawyers Fewer equity guys More madness More joy There's too many corporate types They're all too sensible They're all, they're all, they're all dressed the same You want the Turkish Simon Cowell Do we though? Um Getting up I've got to say Was a miracle Isn't it always stand up Is going to be I mean just That's kind of you know I mean Yeah, I mean Ask a spotted hyena with no doubt Eleven new arrivals Still everywhere rely on the presence of journeyman striker wonder warrior Oli McBurney Playoff hero screw of 19 goals last season I've got guard Algerian winger mahamid balumi New bodies Jack botland I think it's going to be very very busy in goal The coach Bosnian surges your cure of it She's a pragmatic tactician And perform wonders So many of his stops unfortunately I mean deenamo zagreb And and kisericipore And we all know that he saved them from a perilous situation right They're Turkish If you're wondering what a kisericore is Premier League Let's just say it's going to be different gravy for him Different challenge Learning curve It's going to be quite a lot Can he give whole cities Fans a case for who will Can I give whole cities fans a case for hope Stranger things have happened They were massive outsiders that get promoted They looked well short They had done a lot of business I think herrington the the Australian defender who missed the penalty You can't see it yet Who this time from the tolerator rapids It's all as strong before it Right Will is one of those players who will have real resale value I think he will emerge as kind of one of their best players The season Elliott Stroud The Swedish midfield that they brought in is a good player It's going to be a real struggle for whole I guess the case for hope roge to answer seriously Is quite a lot of established Premier League teams Are in a bit of a mess And that means there is an opportunity Four teams like to have entry and teams like whole Quick question of the 38 weeks of the Premier League season How many will whole spend outside of the relegation so Seven He's making up numbers I think 38 and kidding I think one Okay, let's finish this off row Here we are End of the season We got a relegation sentence One of them left Too dull out Because that's who we are We're in control You're the Premier League script writer Now We plan to do it with all of the smugness of a television judge Let's get to a reminder Two young viewers You had who was 20th and 19th Whole City And 20th and Coventry in 19 Who you put in 18th baby So my choice was between Fullen Ipswich And Ristle Palace Those are the other three that I think will be down there It's sort of the worst episode of the Bachelor Rose ceremony of all time I think Newcastle will struggle But not get relegated And I think 18th place will be filled by Sorry Charlie Fullen God, we did not plan this No, we As if you said Yes, Quincy, too I like to Bugle though Fullen are the Westams of 2026, 2027 Fail to plan Plan to flail Whatever the hell that saying is We will release the full one to 20 On a separate show So you can see where we think your club will land And wherever to They're going to fall I can't wait for the season I had a really, really can't come back Football Sweet football into our loving arms What we've proved of these last two episodes, Rodgers, that we don't know what's going to happen And that is really exciting Yeah, somehow we've spoken about it for 17 hours In a sweat box Just outside a Manchester It's what we do for you Tell us what you think In the comments Big, big love Courage You
