It is a bold statement of intent, yet it overlooks the fact that Rodri is currently the heartbeat of a juggernaut that just secured another Premier League title. Pep Guardiola does not sell his most critical components, especially not to clubs currently struggling with registration caps and wage bills.

The defensive void that demands too much

Flick inherited a team that lacks a true screen in front of the back four. Bringing in someone of Rodri's technical profile would fix the structural leaks immediately.
