UEL 2025-26 Quarter-Finals Predictions

UEL Quarter Final Predictions 2026

Porto, Aston Villa, Real Betis and Freiburg are our picks to reach the last four — but nothing is certain in two-legged Europa League football. Here is our full analysis of all four ties.

All Four Tie Predictions

Porto vs Nottingham Forest

Legs 1 & 2

Leg 1: Estádio do Dragão, April 9  |  Leg 2: City Ground, April 16

Our Pick
Porto through
3-2 on aggregate
Key Player
Samu (Porto)
Pace & pressing
Confidence
Moderate

Porto are slight favourites playing the first leg at home in front of a raucous Dragão crowd. Their European pedigree is unquestioned. Nottingham Forest, however, have been one of the stories of the season and they are dangerous going forward — the City Ground second leg could be electric. We expect Porto to edge it on aggregate, but Forest will make them work.

Biggest threat: Forest counter-attack Risk: Away goal from Forest in Leg 1

Bologna vs Aston Villa

Legs 1 & 2

Leg 1: Stadio Renato dall'Ara, April 9  |  Leg 2: Villa Park, April 16

Our Pick
Aston Villa through
2-1 on aggregate
Key Player
Ollie Watkins
Clinical finisher
Confidence
Good

Aston Villa are the favourites here, but Bologna will be no pushovers on their own patch. The Italians are defensively resilient and will look to frustrate Villa in the Renato dall'Ara. We back Villa's quality to tell over the two legs — Ollie Watkins in form could be the difference — but this is a genuine tie and a 0-0 in Italy is very much on the cards.

Biggest threat: Bologna's defensive discipline Risk: Villa Park legs expected to decide it

Braga vs Real Betis

Legs 1 & 2

Leg 1: Estádio Municipal de Braga, April 9  |  Leg 2: Estadio Benito Villamarín, April 17

Our Pick
Real Betis through
2-2 agg — away goals
Key Player
Isco (Betis)
Creative spark
Confidence
Low — coin flip

This is the most evenly matched tie of the four. Braga are brilliant in their unique canyon stadium and scoring there is never easy. Real Betis have the individual quality to snatch a goal and Isco can unlock any defence on his day. We narrowly edge Betis given their experience in Seville for the second leg — but this could go either way, potentially to extra time.

Biggest threat: Braga's partisan atmosphere Risk: Could go to extra time / pens

Freiburg vs Celta Vigo

Legs 1 & 2

Leg 1: Europa-Park Stadion, April 9  |  Leg 2: Estadio de Balaídos, April 17

Our Pick
Freiburg through
2-1 on aggregate
Key Player
Vincenzo Grifo
Set-piece danger
Confidence
Moderate

Freiburg will be well-organised, defensively sound and difficult to break down. Their Europa-Park Stadion is a fortress and they deserve to be considered favourites for this tie. Celta Vigo play attractive football but can be inconsistent away from home. Freiburg's structure and Vincenzo Grifo's creativity should see them edge through.

Biggest threat: Celta's quick transitions Risk: Balaídos second leg is tough

Semi-Final Predictions

Based on our quarter-final picks, here is how we see the semi-finals shaping up:

Semi-Final 1
Porto vs Aston Villa
Two heavyweight clubs, a mouth-watering clash expected
Semi-Final 2
Real Betis vs Freiburg
A fascinating tie between two sides defying expectations

The Europa League final is scheduled for May 2026 in Bilbao. Could this be the year Villa or Porto lift the trophy?
