Key Storylines
The 2022 France Upset
Tunisia's finest modern WC moment — a 1-0 win over France (albeit with a rotated squad) in Qatar 2022. Wahbi Khazri's goal shocked the world. Tunisia carry that belief into 2026.
Élyès Skhiri — Bundesliga Engine
The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder is Tunisia's heartbeat. Tenacious, intelligent, and box-to-box — Skhiri has proven himself at the highest club level and leads by example for the Eagles.
Issam Jebali — Clinical Finisher
The Galatasaray striker brings Champions League experience. Jebali's movement in the box and composure in front of goal make him Tunisia's most dangerous attacking threat going into 2026.
Solid Defensive Foundation
Tunisia's trademark is defensive organisation. Nader Ghandri (Venezia) and Montassar Talbi provide a rugged defensive partnership built on AFCON experience and European club football.
Group F — European Quality Test
Netherlands (Van Dijk, Gakpo) and Japan (Mitoma, Endo) represent Tunisia's toughest WC group in years. But Tunisia have beaten bigger names before — and will fancy their chances against Costa Rica.
Africa's Most Experienced WC Nation
Six World Cup appearances — more than any other African nation. 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, 2022. Tunisia know the big stage. In 2026, they aim to go further than ever before.
