EFL League Cup Final 2025-26
Wembley awaits — finalists, form, history and predictions for English football's first major trophy of the season.
The Carabao Cup Final — England's First Major Silverware
The EFL League Cup, officially sponsored as the Carabao Cup, is the first domestic cup final of the English football season. Played at Wembley Stadium in late February or early March, it routinely draws 85,000+ fans and a global television audience hungry for knockout drama before the Premier League title race reaches its climax.
In recent seasons, Manchester City dominated the competition — lifting it six times between 2018 and 2024. The 2025-26 edition offers other clubs a genuine opportunity to fill the trophy cabinet with City's squad rotation and squad depth tested across multiple competitions.
The format runs from August through to the Wembley final, with Premier League clubs entering in Round 2 (Rounds 1 is for Championship and below). Semi-finals are played over two legs in January, with the aggregate winner booking their Wembley place.

Wembley veterans who have scored or saved in finals before carry enormous value — composure when it matters most.

Penalty Shootout Keepers
A goalkeeper who has saved penalties in cup competition (see Liverpool's Caoimhín Kelleher at Wembley 2022) can single-handedly win a trophy.
