RCD Mallorca 2025-26
From the sun-drenched Balearic island of Mallorca comes one of La Liga’s most tenacious sides. RCD Mallorca, founded in 1916, have built a reputation for defensive organisation, fighting spirit, and cup pedigree. Under Jagoba Arrasate, they play with a collective discipline that makes them a genuine threat to any opponent in Spain’s top flight.
The Mallorca Story
Island Pride in La Liga
The Balearic Islands are better known for tourism and sunshine, but Mallorca carries a genuine football culture. The island’s residents follow RCD Mallorca with fierce loyalty — every home match at Son Moix is a community event. For many Mallorcans, their club’s presence in La Liga is a source of enormous local pride, proving that island football can compete at the highest level of Spanish football year after year.
Cup Pedigree & Defensive Solidity
Mallorca are known for their cup runs — Copa del Rey campaigns where they regularly upset bigger clubs with their organised, disciplined defending and clinical counter-attacking. Arrasate’s side sets up compactly, limits space and transitions quickly. This approach has seen them outperform expectations season after season, beating sides with far greater budgets through superior organisation and tactical intelligence.
Key Players 2025-26
Vedat Muriqi, the Kosovo international striker, leads the attack with his physical presence and aerial threat — a constant menace for La Liga centre-backs. Dani Rodríguez provides experience and creativity in midfield, while Antonio Sánchez anchors the defensive line. The blend of youth and experience gives Mallorca a balanced squad capable of competing for mid-table security and the occasional cup giant-killing.
