Gabriel Martinelli 2025-26
Signed from Ituano in 2019 for just €6m, Gabriel Martinelli has become one of the best bargains in Premier League history. His electric pace, relentless pressing, and sharp finishing make him integral to Mikel Arteta’s high-intensity system at Arsenal. At just 24, the Brazilian winger is already a key figure for both club and country ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The Martinelli Story
From Brazil to the Gunners
Spotted by Arsenal’s scouting network at Ituano FC in São Paulo state, Martinelli arrived at the Emirates aged 18 with minimal fanfare. Within a year, his electric performances had turned him into a fan favourite. His debut season was curtailed by injury, but when fit, the intensity and directness he brought to Arsenal’s attack was unmistakable.
Brazil’s WC 2026 Contender
With the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico on the horizon, Martinelli has cemented his place in Brazil’s plans. Playing in the Premier League — the world’s most competitive league — gives him the perfect stage to showcase his attributes ahead of what could be Brazil’s greatest chance of reclaiming the trophy since 2002. His explosive start to games and ability to create chances from wide areas will be key to the Selecao.
Arteta’s High-Press Weapon
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal is built on pressing, intensity, and collective effort — and Martinelli embodies those values more than any other player. His work rate without the ball is exceptional: tracking back, closing down, winning possession high up the pitch. With the ball, he is equally dangerous — direct, powerful, always threatening to burst past his marker. His combination play with Saka on the right and Odegaard centrally creates one of the Premier League’s most fluid attacking triangles.
